Isabelle Losvar Obituary

Isabelle B. Losvar

Isabelle B. Losvar peacefully passed away on March 22, 2011 at North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket, WA.
She was born on November 11, 1926 in Ketchikan, Alaska to parents William and Mary Brown. Isabelle spent her childhood in Ketchikan and Nome. She attended Stephens College, Columbia Missouri, Everett Junior College, and Everett General Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her Registered Nursing degree. She met her future husband, Albert, while attending Everett Junior College. They were married on June 16, 1951. Isabelle and Albert's first home was in Mukilteo, WA. During this time, Isabelle was a Registered Nurse at Everett General Hospital. Their children, Gretchen and Blair, were born at that hospital. The family moved to Palmer Lake in 1962 where they became involved in the tree fruit industry.
Isabelle was active in many community activities including PTA, Loomis Garden Club, Whitestone Orthopedic Guild and 4-H. She traveled with family and friends to the United Kingdom to visit relatives, the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, and many other destinations. Isabelle especially enjoyed many trips to the Oregon Coast with her family and boating in the San Juan Islands. It gave Albert and Isabelle great pleasure to entertain friends at their home overlooking Palmer Lake.
Isabelle moved to North Valley Extended Care in December, 2008, where the staff provided excellent care.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert, at the family home; her children, Gretchen (Mike) McMillan of Tonasket and Blair (Janie Countryman) Losvar of Palmer Lake; grandchildren, John McMillan (Seattle), Mark McMillan (Tonasket), Blake (Erica) Losvar (Lahaina, HI), Erik Losvar (Lahaina, HI); three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Art Losvar (Mukilteo); and three nephews.
A celebration of Isabelle's life will be held on April 1, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tonasket Community United Church of Christ, 24 East 4th Street in Tonasket, WA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 50020, Seattle, WA 98145-5020 or Parkinson's Resource Center, 910 West 5th Avenue, Suite 256, Spokane, WA 99202.

Issy had the most wonderful sense of humour and I am so glad I managed to visit one last time to hear that infectious laugh. Visits to Palmer Lake were treasured interludes throughout my growing up and through my aging. Sleep well cousin, your like will not pass this way again.

Such fond memories of boating in the San Juans with Izzy's family and the wonderful visits with them at their lovely home overlooking Palmer Lake. Rest in Peace, dear lady.

We have fond memories of the days when we were neighbors of Isabelle and Al Losvar in Mukilteo. Maxine had fun at the sewing club with Isabelle, Trudy, and others in Mukilteo. Our visit to their home in Palmer Lake shortly after they moved there is remembered as an outstanding family outing.

I remember working with her at Everett General Hospital. We had many good times together there. May the family find peace and comfort at this time. May God watch over the family.

Issy was the face and the force of wife, mother, grandmother & friend. A nurturing caring woman. I am sure that wherever, she has it well organized. This generation is poorer for her loss.
