John Sevenich Obituary
John Scott Sevenich
After teaching in Everett for a period of time, Scott moved to Vancouver, WA where he taught for the Vancouver School District. Scott was currently teaching seven and eighth grades at Discovery Middle School in Vancouver and received citations for dedication and excellent work with students.
Scott was a self taught guitar player and enjoyed entertaining and performing with his various bands and groups through the years in the Northwest and British Columbia, and most recently at functions in the Vancouver area.
Scott also loved the outdoors, snow skiing, sailing on his boat "Third Wish" and racing and crewing with others.
Scott is survived by his parents, John and Shirley Sevenich of Everett; sister and brother-in-law, Paula Jo and Bryan Rosenkranz, of Olympia, WA; two nieces, Shelley Rosenkranz Moritz and Gretchen Rosenkranz Pitken; and his sister, Julie A. Sevenich Damon, of Seattle, WA.
John Scott's friends have organized a Memorial and Celebration of Life Gathering in Vancouver on Saturday, May 24. Private services will be held in Everett at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to your favorite charity in honor of Scott.

Scott was my cousin and mentor in both of our dedication to playing / writing contemporary music!! Scott had a true gift, vocals & guitar ! Scott was a beautiful person!!! He will always be missed in hearts and spirit !

Scott was one of the finest people I have ever known. He was multitalented, creative, intelligent and generous. He really enjoyed the adventure of life on the road in a rock & roll band and he played his heart out every night. I loved him and we will all miss the bright light he put in our world.

Scott was my cousin of whom i have great memories growing up with my cousins, Scott, Paula and Julie... but most of all, Scott was a gifted musician , a real talented performer... in his younger years, during which we both started playing guitar and diggin' blues, rockabilly and R&R, Scott could perform an amazing impression of his idol, Elvis.... he not only looked liked Elvis, he moved and sang / played guitar like Elvis... it was uncanny!! i loved hearing him sing and play.... cousin Scott and i have had that drive and desire to play music with our own bands over the years .... i'll always remember him as the consummate musician!! love and peace, Muggins Sevenich[O'Neil]

Dear Scott,
I am writing here to say goodbye. I will never forget our lunch 3 years ago at the Grand Central Bakery near the Lloyd Center. It was the first time I had seen you since high school. You seemed so optimistic and peaceful about your life's journey. You were a good friend to me and had great impact on my life. I have so many great memories from our high school days. You had such great talent, in so many areas. Thank you for sending me the email regarding friends: for a reason, a season or a life time. It meant a great deal to me.
To The Sevenich Family (John, Shirley, Paula, and Julie). I pray for God's comfort and peace for all of you during this most difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Scott,
I'm glad I got to say goodbye and hug you the last time I saw you that morning at school. I am also glad you got to know that I would take care of your kids. It hasn't been easy for us, but we will get through it. I think you know I love them as much as you did. I hope we finish the year and make you proud. Rest in peace.

He was my good friend from Discovery. I will always remember our trip to Idaho where we went quad riding. Whenever I go to there I will always think of him.

I worked with Scott at Discovery last year, and I admired his ability to inspire and motivate students that I found it difficult to connect to. I recall him taking time for family emergencies, and in teaching, it can be hard to keep your priorities straight, but he did. I recall he shared with me one day an email from an old student, sharing with him how much his teaching had meant in that student's life. He said he could retire at that moment, happy, and satisfied. I know he had a brilliant career of touching lives and a life of touching those around him. I am saddened by his loss, and my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to you, his friends and family. God bless you as you mourn for one who touched so many. What a blessing Scott was made to be.

You were a great inspiration to me through out my life. You were that best teacher at Pan Terra and to see you in mutual rooms around town when I needed an uplift you were always there. Thank You. You will be missed incredibly.

Scott, We are going to miss you a lot here at Discovery. The office and halls already seem quietier without you here. Everytime there's something sweet in the office we will think of you and your enthusiam to eat. I think I will miss your story telling the most. Thank you for inspiring the kids and being friends to the adults.

As I begin writing, and thinking about Scott, I am reminded of a quote from a song by Old Crow Medicine Show:
"We're all in this thing together,
Walking the thin line between faith and fear.
This life don't last forever.
When you cry, I taste the salt of your tears."
Scott and I taught together for nearly 20 years. In that time we were a lot of things to each other: Friends, always; colleagues, obviously; adversaries, sometimes. Those times we were adversarial things sometimes got heated. Scott was a passionate, and blunt, advocate for his positions and beliefs. So am I. Through our disagreements, though, we were always friends with great respect for each other. I think, deep down, we knew that, even though we were arguing, in the big picture of things we were on the same side.
I am reminded of another quote, this one by a 13th century Persian poet named Rumi:
"Out beyond right and wrong there is a field. I'll meet you there."
I'll meet you at the field, my friend.

Hey Sound Guy,
Hands Across the Bridge will greatly miss you this year. You were always the guy who took care of all of the sound equipment and stayed back putting it away while we all trudged to the bridge. You said, “That is my job, I am the Sound Guy for Hands Across the Bridge!”
I am happy that last year you finally got to go up on the bridge with 2,000 of your best friends, some of whom you hadn’t had the chance to meet yet!
On the day of the Celebration of your life, I planted strawberry plants for my “Bozo’s By the Berries” friend.
You will be missed by many!
