Dear Dorothy and family,
Joe was quite a guy! His exuberance for life inspired many to pursue their own dreams and adventures. He will be missed by all those who had the good fortune to know him!

As both of my parents taught at SHS, I know how it is to lose a loved one. I think there were three of us 54 SHS grads whose parents were members of the SHS faculty. Jim? Verlyn?
Dorothy, my heart goes out to you and your family. Love, Barbara

Joe was a great family friend. He was also a wonderful art teacher. I was in his art class for 4 years. Stepping into the art room was relaxing. Joe usually played music and he taught lessons but always encouraged our own creative spins on assignments. He made everyone in the class feel important.

Joe greeted me as a new teacher at Snohomish and became an instant friend. I respect him for being a member of the Greatest Generation, his service to our country, his commitment to his students, and his mentorship. I love him as a friend.

Joe was one of my favorite teachers. I could see the Snohomish BPA Substation from his SHS upper room windows. I got my start in ham radio. K7GZI.

Joe was a really great guy and I have great memories of him in many of his capacities. Mostly he was just a decent guy to everyone he met. I continue to remember SHS with pride as being one of the finest high schools in the state. We definitely all did well as we moved on to bigger things. People like Joe served us all very well and far beyond what he was ever expected to do or what he was paid.

I remember Mr. Clayton from Snohomish High School. I had him for art class in my freshman year. He was a great guy. I was always impressed with his radio gagets. To his family, my sympathies. Rest in peace Mr. Clayton.

Mr. Clayton was one of the greatest teachers at Snohomish High. He was my favorite Art teacher and I had drivers ed a couple of times with him. I remember going into class and he would say girls I will buy ice cream if you run over to Kesslers (darigold behind) and get us some ice cream. Once we even ran down to Dairy Queen on 2nd street to get him a fancy one by the time we got back the ice cream was melted and class was over. Love him. My prayers are with you at this hard time. He did live a very blessed life.
