I cant believe you are gone I always thought you would be playing professional soccer by now. I know this is late but Ill never forget the fun times we shared through all our years on eclipse together! When he came back from that broken leg he was like rookie of the year. You were an amazing person full of amazing talent. Truly a special talent on the soccer field and a wonderful person off. Andy I love you buddy I wish we didnt lose touch. You were a great coach and like a second father. The best memories in my child hood were moments we shared with the team. I am so sorry for your loss and the late condolences.

In honor and memory of my first born son –

Kyle Andrew Nelson – 5/24/1987 to 4/13/2011

Don’t be sad
Remember the good times and not the bad
Be strong for is brother and especially his dad
Do it for Kyle – don’t make him mad

There are no words to describe the loss of a child
He lived a short full life – crazy and wild

He accomplished his dreams and played on many teams

He looked out for his brother and always there for his mother

His love for his family was above and beyond me

His love for his friends was true to the end

The good times he had with Roland, Dale and his famous uncle Mike
Will always be remembered – they were so much alike

His love and dedication to his brother was a true blessing – unlike any other

The love he felt for Ashley will always be a part of me

The relationship he had with Jeremy will continue to grow
Sweet memories – for this I know

The love for his dad was the greatest gift of all
From beginning to end – always playing ball
Father and son – together as one

Skipping school and roaming the halls
Staying out late – causing mischief in Granite Falls

Watching the movie Rush Hour for the 10th time while scarfing down mac-n-cheese
Doing your best to always say please

Video games, bonfires and wearing various hats
Cleaning under houses and dealing with stinky rats

Camping, skateboarding, getting tattoos
The goofy grin on your face and funny hairdos

Nice girls, pretty girls, bong hits and beer
Now you’re in heaven but will always be near

You always tried your best – never settled for anything less

You worked like a dog
Whether pouring concrete or lifting a log
Always stayed focus – never in a fog

School shopping and hanging out at the malls is something we loved most
Your love for simple things like cinnamon sugar toast

Holidays, snowboarding and PBR
Getting your license and driving your first car

You couldn’t save a dime
Blowing every paycheck and saying “I earned it – it’s my time”

Sports were your passion, music was your game
Always flashing a jersey that read Nelson is my name

Never the desire to follow trends or be someone your not to try and fit in
Always encouraging your teammates to just play hard and go for the win

Sanford and Son – your number one
You put a smile on Kyle with every episode from your file

Your love for animals will never be in the dark
Hanging out with Ashley and taking Echo to the park

We have an unfinished card game by the name of phase ten
We will finish playing when we someday meet again

Movies and spaghettios kept you happy on the couch
Trust me I know – this I can vouch

Living on the edge, often misunderstood
Always reassuring me, Mom – it’s all good

Upbeat, positive and a joy to be around
Joking, laughing and acting like a clown
Look out heaven – Kyle’s in town

I could go on and on forever but I feel Kyle nudging at me saying “Mom – whatever”
Just keep it short, keep it sweet
Stay strong for Sean until we meet

23 and full of energy
He lived life to the fullest
He was one of the coolest
He passed in his sleep with a friend by his side
Now he’s in heaven – eyes open wide

I love you Kyle
I love you Sean
Family and friends forever
The memories will live on

Forever young
Cowboy Kyle
My firstborn son

In an early season soccer game the coach was trying different line-ups and formations and had Kyle as an offensive midfielder instead of the striker/forward he usually played. Twice Kyle received the ball in space, and instead of unleashing that venomous long-range shot, he dribbled directly into the heart of the defense, like a point guard on the dribble drive. As the defenders collapsed on the ball, Kyle, head up, dished the ball off to the open forwards. What a great thing for early season, high school soccer...the more skillful, experienced player getting his teammates in the game; making his teammates better.
Maybe that is a message we can all carry from this sadness: How can we all get our friends and family in the game? How can we all make them better?

Rest well, Kyle, and peace be with your family and friends.
