Marlys Mangold-Gere Obituary

Marlys Mangold-Gere
May 12, 1933 - March 2, 2011

After a courageous and hard fought five year battle with cancer, Marlys passed away peacefully in her own home near the Colville National Forest in Eastern Washington.
She was one of two daughters born to the late Oscar and Gertrude Sather and was the beloved wife of the late Edward Mangold for over 45 years. Marlys remarried in 2000 to Ronald Gere, who remained by her side daily throughout her bout with cancer.
Marlys will forever be remembered and adored by her five children, Lisa King, Edward Mangold, Scott Mangold, Kim Falcon and Danny Mangold; her beautiful grandchildren, Ian Bahr and Autumn Coleman, Grayson and Scotty Audet, Adam and Shea Mangold, Natalie McKonkey, Mackenzie Mangold, Isabella Mangold and Sam Mangold; in-laws, Jack King, Joyce Borchert, Dan Falcon and Jane Morris.
At a time when most people retire, Marlys became the President of of Danny's Music in Everett dealing in rare and antique musical instruments. Her incredible gift of grace, humor, charm and love made her a favorite amongst music's biggest rock celebrities who always asked for her by "Mom" or "Marnie." Although she had allocated instruments to The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam and Nirvana, one of her biggest sources of pride was looking after the countless students from Everett High, who she referred to as her "Rock and Roll Latch Key Kids" and they loved her right back.
A memorial service is planned this summer in Great Falls, MT.
