Michael Roark Obituary

Michael Brett Roark

The life of Pvt. Michael Brett Roark was abruptly taken from his family and friends on December 5, 2011 in Hinesville, GA.
Our beloved son, brother, grandson and friend will be deeply missed by all.
Michael was born on December 23, 1991 in Kirkland, WA and spent his childhood in Washington State where he shared his passion for fishing, music, bonfires on the beach, wildlife preservation and playing practical jokes on each unsuspecting person.
Michael's dream was to be a soldier. Soon after high school he signed up for the army and entered boot camp at Fort Knox, KY where he trained as an infantry scout. His next duty location was Fort Stewart, GA where he awaited possible deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan. Michael received his discharge from the army on December 2, 2011.
A celebration of Michael's life with full Military Honors will take place on December 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St., Shoreline, WA for all who wish to attend. A private gathering will take place following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's name to the Marysville Food Bank or the children's charity of your choice.

I was lucky to be Michael's 3rd grade teacher, and I have such fond memories of him. He was a sweet boy who loved to make others laugh. I also taught Shelby, so I would often get special visits from him after school just to say hello and see how I was doing. I loved this family and am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young man who was doing good things with his life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are so saddened by this senseless tragedy. No family should ever have to endure such a loss. We will forever remember Michael as the fun loving, adorably mischevious soccer veteran of 6 years for our wonderful "Tornado Blasters 97-02". He added so much fun to our team and our family as we became very close to entire Roark family over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you especially during this time of loss.

Although we haven't seen Michael since he was a rambunctious young boy bashing his Tonka trucks, we are very proud that he grew up to be such a fine young man. We are very sorry to see the news of his passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

In the summer of 1999, we were next door neighbors to Michael and his family. My daughter Daurion, Michael and Shelby became quick friends. I learned later that Michael was Daurions first kiss! Daurion was 6 and Michael was 7. Eleven years later Daurion and Michael found each other on Facebook. Michael then became Daurion's first true love. Daurion and Michael will always have a bond that nobody can ever take away. We love you Michael! You will be in our hearts and thoughts forever!
