Willis Arndt Obituary

Willis Marvin Arndt

Willis Marvin Arndt, 78, of Granite Falls, WA died on May 18, 2011 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on March 14, 1933 to Wilhelm Friedrich and Mabel Annette Arndt in McCleary, WA.
Willis attended Hoquiam High School before joining the military where he served on a minesweeper in the Navy during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Navy he worked in the timber industry and various lumber and plywood mills in Washington, Oregon and California before becoming disabled in 1994.
He enjoyed and was known to drive several hours in order to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their various sporting events. Dancing and socializing at the Eagles Club was another way he spent his retirement years. His family and friends marveled at the beautiful pieces of wood furniture and yard art he created with just a few tools.
Dad, I will always miss the stories I heard a thousand times about you playing football and basketball at Hoquiam High school. About playing football with Jack Elway, and yes I remember you telling me about playing football against Everett Junior College at Everett Memorial Stadium. I wouldn't mind hearing them one more time though. You had an amazing sense of humor and the ability to come up with a joke about any topic at hand, although some were not appropriate for all to hear. I will love and miss you always.
Willis is survived by 3 children, Janice Pszczolkowski, Kevin R. Arndt, Kathy Smith and 11 loving grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Cyril Sylvester, Irvin Howard, Wreath Millicent, Mildred Margaret, Edwin Willard, Lillian Easter, Alvin Fred, and Donald Robert Arndt.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Dad, you were the most devoted father and grandfather. What I loved most about you was your kindness and sense of humor. You always had a joke to tell, yet never forgot a birthday! I also enjoyed our trips to the casino--you were a good gambling buddy. And your passion for sports was unparalleled! It will be a very lonely college football season without your insight! I will miss our husky vs. duck rivalry. At least you went out while the ducks were on top! Thanks for the gifts you've given me. Love, your daughter, Jan

If I had one more day with my Father I would of told him, "Dad, you were the greatest Dad in the world!" Thanks for always being there for me! Thanks for giving me good advice when I needed it and thanks for caring so much about us and your Grandkids and friends. You were the most giving, loving and thoughtful person when you needed and wanted to be. You weren't afraid to tell a person off when need be either and I loved that about you too! You were my idol in many ways! I will always brag about you and I will continue to tell your stories to my kids and grandkids!

I will missing hearing you sing your songs! ....I remember every road trip we went on growing up and didn't matter if we had a radio or not because we wanted to hear you sing and tell your stories and hear your jokes! I miss you Dad and love you infinity!!
