When i came across the people in the oso mudslilde i came across the entire Ruthven family i had to take a double take, my eyes flooded with tears. I knew the Ruthven family thru the glass business, i spoke to Shane and Katie almost daily. I met there son's several times and spoke to them while they were on there Disney Land adventure. They were loving caring people and amazing parents. I can only hope and pray they are happy together up in the Sky. My heart goes out to there family.

To the family, we are so deeply saddened and touched by your loss. No words could ever express our compassion and sympathies for you at this time. Your loss has touched the world and brought a community to its knees, yet we also see them standing strong to rally and hold one another. We think of you daily and pray for your peace nightly. Our family would like to do something special for you, if you could please contact us through Kurt's Cause on Facebook, or me directly through FB, I would greatly appreciate it. Until then, please know that we pray that you find the strength and courage that you so need each and every day. ~Kandy Hayes, and family.

Shane was such a great man and wish I had had a chance to meet Katie and the boys. I wish I didn't live halfway across the country so I could attend their memorials. Prayers to all the family.

Last summer I answered an ad on Craigslist for a 2010 Harley Davidson Roadglide. The owner of the bike was a guy named Shane Ruthven. During the process of test riding it, buying it, getting the title etc over the next several visits I got to meet his beautiful wife Katie, and their two handsome son's Hunter and Wyatt. I remember Hunter following me around asking me why I wanted to buy his Fathers bike. Little did I know how I would remember that conversation with that young man.
Shane and I continued to talk after the sale, and we would text from time to time since we both rode, and he had purchased a new bike.
Sunday morning March 30th I reading the Everett Herald about the mud slide in Oso. As I read the list of victim's who died in the tragedy I came upon Shane Ruthven's name and got redirected to an article which went on to tell how Katie, Hunter and Wyatt had all passed away in the slide, I felt like I got kicked in the gut.
I can tell you that it was and honor meeting the Ruthven family. From my point of view, and from what I read, they were two people very much in love, who were raising two fine young men.
My heart goes out to the Ruthven Family and to the Pszonka family and to all the victims and families of the tragedy in Oso.

Shane was my nephew, therefore Katie my niece. Shane was always fun, generous and caring and had a personality that never quit. Katie completed Shane. She was a truly warm and caring person. Those boys were, little boys, full of fun and laughter. The entire family will be so missed by so many people.

We met Shane through his glass business and he had replaced windshields for several of our customers along with several of our cars at our repair shop. He was a very honest and caring person who talked so much about his family. We are so sorry for your loss...no words will help your pain, but know that there are so many people here that will hold you close in their hearts.

I am so sorry for your loss, I met your family through the Oso Fire Dept. years ago on the Santa Run, I also know them through the glass business. I work across the street at Arlington Transportation and will miss hearing the boys outside laughing and playing. Again I am so sorry for your families loss.
