Richard Whittington Obituary

Richard C. Whit- tington, 68 of Swansea, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Oaks in New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Joan (Murphy) Whittington-Pavao. Richard was born in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late Hugh Evan and Donna (Ferree) Whittington. He graduated from Ohio State and Yale Universities. Mr. Whittington was a retired Presbyterian Minister who pastored at churches in Springfield, Ohio and Barrington, RI. He most recently served as administrator of Christ Church, Harvard Square, in Cambridge, MA. Survivors are four beloved step children, thirteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren by marriage; his cherished sister Pamela Whittington of Belmont, Ohio. Calling hours for Mr. Whittington will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10am to 11am in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery Somerset. To light a candle, sign guest book, facility or cemetery directions go to or call 508 672-3572.
