I got to know Sam through the School of Medicine. Sam was truly a rennaisance man. Muititalented and innovative. Above all he was a good human being. He will be sorely missed.

Sam attended The Citadel Summer Camp and later worked at the camp while I was directing it. I knew him as a camper, counselor and cadet. He was larger than life in size and soul. Just a few years ago we exchanged books we had authored. Boys growing into men like Sam was the reason I did hat I did.

So shocked and saddened to see this. I had the privilege to know and work with Sam at USC School of Medicine. Sam was a great story teller and shared stories of his wrestling career. Thoughts and prayers for his wife and family. RIP Sam!

I had the good fortune to get to know Sam when we worked together for many years at the Sheriff's Office, and then follow his wrestling and writing careers. From grant writing, to business and commercial writer, to successful published author, his talent shined. You made your mark on this world, Sam, and your love and loyalty for your family, friends, classmates and school were obvious. It was a privilege to be your friend, and you will be greatly missed. My deep condolence to Myra and all of his family.

A good man and Citadel brother gone way too soon. Our class members are fortunate that we were able to spend time with Sam at our 30th reunion in November. Sincerely condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Sam. Bob Sutton Citadel '85

I had the honor of knowing Sam "Sammy" while he worked as a deputy. He was always the kindness and sweetest man. I happened to find him again about a year ago on FB, and he had invited me to a book signing. I have to regret to say I did not make it to see him. I'm sure he is writing and smiling as he looks down on us. My prayers are for his wonderful family and for peace in their hearts.
