Harriet W. Vogel, recently of Monroe Township, N.J., formerly of Morris County, N.J. (43 years), Loveladies, N.J. (38 years) and Longboat Key, Fla. (12 years), beloved wife and best friend of Herbert Vogel, devoted mother of David Vogel and Elizabeth Gurevitch, grandmother of Melissa, Danielle, Matthew and Abigail, sister of Anne Wasserman Luther died on Jan. 14, 2011 in Longboat Key, Fla.
Harriet was born in Baltimore, Md. and was the daughter of Dr. Harry Wasserman, a Russian Jewish immigrant and Caroline Worthington Wasserman of Charleston, S.C. whose family roots in America went back to the 1600's.
Harriet and Herb were married for 51 years and devoted to each other and to their family and their many special friends who they considered part of their extended family. Harriet was a loving, caring, giving person who was both brilliant and compassionate and understanding of her family and friends. She recently served as associate editor of the Bayport condo association newsletter and was especially committed to the opera, symphony and arts. She was an amazingly creative person intellectually, writing, painting, needlework and with incredible skills in technology. In the end her love of her husband and family and friends were the crown jewel of her being.
Harriet's superior education was at Friends School of Baltimore, Bryn Mawr College, County College of Morris and Rutgers University. Harriet worked as a computer consultant in New Jersey until she retired.
Services were held at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston, N.J. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. The memorial period was observed at the home of David and Alison Vogel in Randolph, N.J. Harriet's family would like to thank all of their family and friends for their love and support during this time.
