Bertha DeSutter DeWitte, 99, of Sarasota passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 under the care of TideWell Hospice, Bradenton, Fla.
Born May 22, 1912 in Lacure, Belgium, she immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 9 in 1918.
On Feb. 3, 1938 she married Alfred DeWitte at the Our Lady Queen of Sorrows Church in Detroit. They celebrated 73 years of marriage. Alfred passed away at the age of 101 on January 19, 2010.
She worked hand in hand with Alfred who was a contractor at DeSoto Lakes.
Bertha was the daughter of Leo and Mary (DeRocker) DeSutter of Napolean, OH.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna M. Metdepenningen of Monroe, Mich. and an infant brother.
She is survived by her nephew, Arnold and two nieces, Mary and Diane.
Services and burial were private.
Arrangements by Toale Brothers Funeral Homes.
