A remarkable woman leaves an endearing legacy behind in so many ways. My family will never forget our weekend bicycle rides to Claire and Perry's waterfront home on Siesta Key, to talk about their life together, the history of Mote Marine Laboratory, and how to cope with life's challenges. Claire would bring us refreshments, Perry would read to our little son, and we would leave with lifted hearts. Not a day goes by where their guidance and love aren't missed. Thank you, Claire, for the many ways that you made this world a better place.

Dear Ann, Muff, John , Chris, Lois and Phil,
What a fitting tribute for Claire...she was so ever loving and generous to me as a child and this continued into more recent years: giving me my first issue of Parents magazine when my son David was born, including Matthew in Sunday dinners when he was at Cornell, keeping close company and tabs on Tib when she was alive. I did eat her creme puffs and witnessed the frequent and many ways of preparing mussels the summer I spent with your family in Bar Harbor... an acquired taste for a 13 year old! My love and immense sympathy for the loss of this spectacular person and cherished mother! Much love , Mary Marcia

Hello to Ann and all the Gilbert family. Please accept my prayers in memory of Claire. I remember well the times spent in your home and at the farm and how welcoming Claire always was to me. She was a very special person. Mary O'Connor MacKenzie

To the family of Perry and Claire,
We had the great privilege to know and admire Perry and Claire. They were models of graciousness, good friendships and kindness to all.
We were enriched by the good times we shared with them and their many friends. They were simply an incredible couple and we shall never forget them.
