I met Don a few times, and he was the nicest man. He was one of the few who inspired me to go on a become a book designer and publisher myself. His books introduced me to the fiction of H. Warner Munn, the artwork of J.K. Potter, the non-Conan works of Robert E. Howard, the artwork of Joseph Clement Coll, and so much more. And even though I haven't seen him in years, I'll miss him greatly.

Don was the kindest and gentlest man I ever knew. He introduced me to Robert E. Howard, Stephen King, the World Fantasy Convention and Necon. I still remember the periodic trips that we made to his Rhode Island home to get his latest books. All of the beautiful books that he published remain in our collection. He will be missed.

Don was producing great Robert E. Howard books just as I got into Howard seriously. He gave me many hours of joy and helped introduce me to older pulp writers as well with his Centaur Press. He leaves a legacy one can be proud of.

Don was a great supporter of Baryon Magazine from the early days in the mid 1970s and continued to be a great friend. He was a true pioneer in the specialty press and his creation will live on due to his vision and insight. My best wishes to his family.

Mr. Grant introduced me to SO much great fiction and verse (as well as Mrs. Price-Ellis' memoir). For that, I will always be in his debt.

I only got to meet Don once, but found him to be a real gentleman in person and in our correspondence. He was one of the towering figures in the small press arena, and he was and will continue to be an inspiration to many of us.

Don positively affected my life and the lives of all of my family members in more ways than I can count. A truly great man has left us and will be missed.
