Peter Deeks Obituary
April 28, 1945 - Nov. 6, 2009
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Morley Bedford Funeral Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Church on-the-Hill, Toronto.
Surrounded by family and close friends at St. Michael's Hospital after a very brief illness, Peter passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, at the age of 64.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Wendy, devoted father of Sarah and Jocelyn, golf companion and father-in-law of David Freeman, grandfather of a daughter yet to arrive. He was the cherished brother of John (Marg) and Jim (Barb), and uncle to David, Megan, Martha, Charlie and Colin Deeks. He was brother-in-law of Margo and Jack Pulkinen and uncle to their children, Morgan and Stuart.
Pete was a graduate of Upper Canada College (1952-64) and the University of Western Ontario (1967), a lifelong member of Rosedale Golf Club and latterly Gator Creek and Sara Bay in Sarasota. He was one of the most highly regarded and most successful life insurance specialists in the country, as president of his own firm, Deeks Associates, and as a representative of several of Canada's largest insurance companies, principally Manulife. His popularity among a vast circle of acquaintances was exceeded only by the admiration in which he was held as a businessman, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and devoted friend, by all. Words cannot describe how much Peter will be missed.

Peter was a class act who never varied from being a gentleman, friend, professional and trusted advisor. In every occasion, over several decades, that I had the good fortune to meet and speak with Peter, it was a pleasure and it was helpful. He will be remembered as "they just don't get any better."

It was my privilege to have known Peter over many years during my long association with Manulife Financial.
He was a classy individual who carried
his business and personal relationships with dignity and respect and where appropriate humour.
My sympathy to Wendy and family, and to Diane, a long valued colleague and friend. He will be missed. He was a 5 Star Master Builder associated with Manulife reflecting the highest level of quality service and commitment to his clients.
His passing is our loss. But he leaves many friends, and great memories.

I knew Peter as a fellow agent in my office. Even if he was busy he always had time to give you a smile and stop and talk to you. He was always there to help you with advice if you wanted it or just to listen to you. I cannot say I knew him well but I knew him well enough to know he was a great guy.
