William James Charron, 78, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Doctor's Hospital in Sarasota after a short illness. Born in New Rochelle, New York in June 1939, he was the son of William Thomas and Gertrude Hopkins Charron.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Linda Heath Charron and a sister, Joan Edith Charron. He is survived by a sister, Carol Charron Puchalski, three nieces, Ashleigh Heather Lorenz (Chris) Patricia Rahi (Joseph) and Wendy Chamberlain (Mark) and two nephews, Joseph Puchalski and William Puchalski. He is survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews including Lennon, Haven, Oliver Tide, Sarah, Carly, Mireille, George, Amanda and Alan, He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Heath.
Starting out his life as the son of Salvation Army officers who were often transferred, Bill lived in Brooklyn and Poughkeepsie, New York; Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Cleveland, Ohio as a child. He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for one year before finishing his bachelor's degree at Baldwin Wallace University after his family moved to Cleveland in 1959.
He was first employed by Arthur G. McKee as a construction auditor. He finished his career at the National Erectors Association in Arlington Virginia as Vice President of Operations.
He married Linda Heath in Strongsville Ohio in 1977. She passed away in 1994.
He retired in 1999 and moved to Sarasota where he enjoyed playing a daily game of racquetball, reading books about political figures, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending time with family and his wide circle of friends. He was also a volunteer at his church as a member of the media ministry.
A service of remembrance will be held at Abundant Life Church, 6461 Proctor Road, Sarasota at 10am on Saturday, February 17th.
Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army Command, 340 14th St. St. Petersburg, Florida.
