Jan. 20, 1931 - April 10, 2007

Mary Anne Leonetti, 76, Sarasota, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died April 10, 2007.
CORRECTION: A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Sarasota.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Frank; a daughter, Jeri Anne (Eric) Johnson of Sarasota; a son, Daniel (Karen) Leonetti of Sarasota; a brother, Jerry Groom of Sarasota; and a sister, Delores (Hershel) Carlisle of Mount Dora.
Mary Anne was a 33-year resident of Sarasota and served as the only manager of the Tivoli by the Sea Condominium on Siesta Key since its construction in 1974. She was a member of the Tivoli by the Sea board of directors and Siesta Chamber of Commerce. She owned and operated, with great love and devotion, Tivoli Vacation Resort. Mary Anne's warmth, personal attention and devotion to all created a unique and unparalleled family atmosphere at Tivoli that prompted countless families to return yearly through multiple generations. Anyone who stayed at Tivoli became a member of her extended family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends from across the U.S. and around the world. Her life and love have touched hundreds of people over the years through her dedication to Tivoli and the community.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Ferin of Des Moines, Iowa; a grandson, Sean Greer of Sarasota; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Helen Groom; and a son-in-law, Jack P. Greer.

Sorry to hear the sad news of Mary Anne's passing. She always looked so nice, and she was as nice as she looked. This is still very hard to believe. Tivoli will never seem the same without her. She will be missed. Our family stayed at Tivoli several times.

Mom #2,
You have been an important part of my life for 32 years. You treated me like I was your son, keeping me in line and out of trouble (most of the time, I guess I could be difficult). You always had a smile for me and everyone. I miss you and will always love you. Guess God needed some help in heaven keeping people in order, and knew you were the angel he needed. To Frank, Danny, Karen and Chicky, you were blessed to have her in your lives and know she will continue to watch over you. If you need anything, I am a phone call away. Love & Stuff, Craig

We have been lucky enough to know Danny and Karen for many years. So, when Mary Anne became a patient of mine, I felt instantly attached. She is someone everyone in our office truly loved seeing. I always looked forward to her stories of her family and especially her hugs. Her beautiful spirit will always be admired and always remembered. May the family find peace in knowing how many lives Mary Anne has touched.

Aunt Sissy,
You left too soon....We didn't have a chance to reminisce about all those Christmases at Nana's and the pasta and fried chicken. Or the good times in Springfield when we would come to visit. I didn't get to ask you about the REALLY crazy days you spent with Uncle Frank and Mom and Dad when you were younger - now that I'm old enough to hear those stories! (There's still a story about a horse barn in Ankeny I need to get straight). It was so great seeing you a couple of years ago when I came down with my daughters and that wonderful hug you gave me when we first arrived that I will NEVER forget. They say things happen for a reason - that God has a plan for all of us. There's no doubt in my mind that God had an opening for an official "Heavenly Greeter" and you were his unanimous choice for the job. We lived so far away but I will miss you still. You left too soon....

For 32 years, we laughed, we cried, we worried, we pondered, we played (rarely, because she was always so busy taking wonderful care of her beloved Tivoli) and we worked projects together as friends. She was my Sunshine. I was her Moonglo. I cannot imagine life without Mary Anne's smiling face and the hugs she distributed to everyone within reach. No one could share happiness, caring, joy, excitement and love like our sweet Mary Anne. She was unique. God is getting a first-rate angel who had a halo and wings long before she ever arrived in heaven. We have all been blessed that this special lady touched our lives. She will live in our hearts forever. Goodbye Sunshine!

Mary Anne was as beautiful inside as out, a wonderful human being. She felt like family, we are very sad to loose her. From the time my grand daughter could talk, she called Siesta Key "Mary Anne's beach" - it will always be "Mary Anne's beach" for us.

I saw Mary Anne acouple of weeks ago, after not seeing her for about 7 years. She was so dear and happy to see me that she held my face in her hands and kissed me and I was so very touched. My family had come to Tivoli for many years as we were fortunate enough to use the Livingston's condo. My children are now adults, but some of their fondest momories are of Mary Anne and Tivoli. We are so saddened, but I am so greatful that I got to see her so recently. My very sincere sympathy to the family, and how lucky you were to have such a special woman.
