Arnold E. Fein, 83, of Sarasota, formerly of Longboat Key, died June 25, 2010.
Services were held on June 28 at Temple Beth Israel, Longboat Key, under the direction of Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Polinsky; son Joel of Sarasota; and daughters Mitchell Sue Cooper of Vermont and Tina Debra Fein Dinitz of Palo Alto, Calif.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Meredith Cooper Mascolo (Matt) of Medford, Mass., Andrew Cooper (Elizabeth) of New York City, Nathan Pardes Fein Dinitz of Palo Alto; one great-grandchild, Cooper Gray Mascolo; daughter-in-law Patricia Tobin Fein; and son-in-law Rick Fein Dinitz. He was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Beatrice Jacobs Fein, and a brother, Marvin Fein.
Arnold was an honors graduate of City College of New York and attended law school at New York University. His professional degrees were earned at the American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa., and included CLU, ChFC, and Advanced Pension Planning. He was an adjunct professor of insurance at Fairleigh Dickinson University of New Jersey.
He served on the Longboat Key Pension Board, and was a past board member of Sarasota Ballet; past president of Temple Beth Israel Men's Club; and past member of the Board of Jewish Family & Children's Services. He was active in the Meals on Wheels program in Sarasota; a member of the Rotary of the Keys and their Gift of Life program; and a current member of the Advisory Board at Mote Marine Laboratory.
Arnold was a veteran of World War II, a combat tank crewman and radio operator in the 10th Armored Division in France and Germany.
