Robert C. Hendon, Jr., 78, of Venice, Florida passed away on April 11, 2016.
Born in DesMoines, Iowa on June 10, 1937, Mr. Hendon graduated Cum Laude from Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs in 1959. After Princeton he joined the Navy where he served as a Lieutenant J.G. on the NATO Staff of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic. He then went on to graduate from the Yale School of Law in 1964. Upon graduation from Yale Law School, he joined the law firm of Waller, Landsen, Dortch and Davis in Nashville, Tennessee. After 28 years of private practice he left the firm in 1992 as a partner. He went on to serve as Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for Berlitz International, Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey. In 1999, Mr. Hendon retired and later moved from Lambertville, New Jersey to live in Venice, Florida in 2001. He was an Elder of the Venice Presbyterian Church, Frenchtown Presbyterian and the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the founding trustee of the Princeton Alumni Association of Middle Tennessee and the past President of the Princeton Alumni Club of Middle Tennessee and chairman of the Princeton Schools Committee of Middle Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife, Donna K. Hendon; daughter Alysha Hendon Jordan of New Orleans; son, Robert C. Hendon III of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Penny McGinn of Washington D.C. ; two step-daughters: Laura Keil of Annadale, New Jersey and Marla Witter of Easton, Pennsylvania; three grandsons: Miles Jordan of New Orleans, Devon and Dominic Witter, both of Easton, Pennsylvania.
Robert's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29th at Venice Presbyterian Church, with interment and military honors following at Venice Memorial Gardens.
