He was born July 28, 1923 in Mobile, Ala., to Ruth and Henry Wright. He graduated from Murphy High in Mobile in 1940, and went on to start his undergraduate studies at Auburn University, where he was part of the ROTC program.
He was inducted into the Armed Forces and served in England, France and Austria from 1944 to 1946.
He returned to the United States in 1946 and completed his pre-med studies at Springhill College in Mobile, and attended Duke University Medical School in 1952. He interned in ob-gyn at Duke Hospital.

He also served as president of the Florida Ob-gyn Society and chaired the United Way of Tampa. He was also a member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, the MerryMakers Club and the Exchange Club.
Dr. Wright then moved to Boca Grande and was the director of the Boca Grande Health Clinic for 28 years.
After discharge from the Army in 1946 he married Anne Heuer, and was married to her for 49 years until her death in 1995. He then married June Taylor Wright in 1996. At the time of his death they spent the summer months in New Hampshire, and the winter months in Boca Grande.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Henry Wright; stepmother Villette Wright; his first wife, Anne; his sister, Anne Hunt; his son-in-law, Ted DeLaVergne; and grandson, Daniel DeLaVergne.

I grew up across the street from Dr. Wright on Davis Islands. I have fond memories of him as a very kind person and neighbor. My favorite tree to climb was in his front yard. My heart goes out to Christopher, Robin and Carter whom I also remember fondly. Rest in Peace, Dr. Wright.
