Ruby Lowman Obituary

VALDESE - Mrs. Ruby Violet Cresimore Lowman, 95, of Valdese, went unto her heavenly home Sunday, June 28, 2009, at College Pines Nursing Home following a period of declining health. Ruby was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Catawba County to the late John W. Cresimore and Dora Lee Keever. Since 1925, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Valdese, where she taught Sunday school, was president of Burke County Methodist Youth Fellowship and was best known for working at the Alba Store as a sales clerk for many years until her retirement in 1978. Ruby also was active in the Rural Letter Carriers Association and was president of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion in Valdese and was a member of the Pink Ladies of Valdese Hospital. She has always said she loved her children and grandchildren too much and she will be missed greatly by all of them. In addition to her parents, her husband, Gilmer Lowman; one son, Nilo Lowman; and one granddaughter, Kim Jones, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Gilda Lowman of Valdese; one son, Dan Lowman and wife, Sherry, of Raleigh; one brother, Charlie Cresimore of Maiden; one sister, Bessie McGee of Newton; and her four grandchildren, Holly Lowman of Nashville, Jill Lowman of Raleigh, John Millwood and wife, Jae, of Middleburg, Fla., and Lance Millwood and wife, Brandy, of Mount Holly. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Robert Gober officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorials may be sent to the Evangelical Methodist Church, P.O. Box 846, Rutherford College, N.C. 28671 or First United Methodist Church of Valdese, 217 St. Germain St., Valdese, N.C. 28690. Dear Lowman Family,

I am so sorry that Ruby passed away. She was a wonderful neighbor, a good wife, and a great mom. I have many, many memories of being at your house growing up. You were blessed to have her for so many years.

Best of wishes in this of celebration of life for someone who gave so much to life and people from the family of Richard and Willo Pierce formerly of Valdese. I remember her as a very kind and considerate person.

My own mother turns 94 next month. Seems they did something right to make it all last so long and hope we have learned from them just the same.

I will truly miss Mrs. Lowman, before she got sick we would talk of things she enjoy doing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this time.

We came to know Ruby, when our mother, Helen Allman shared a room with her for
6 months. Ruby was a kind, caring and considerate lady. We cared so much for
