Gordon Bird Obituary

Gordon Carter Bird died peacefully at home surrounded by his family April 24, 2010.
Gordon was born Sept. 8, 1951, in Payson, Utah, to James and Phyllis Bird. He moved to Logan in 1959, and he attended Logan High School.
He married Marcia Brown and had a daughter, Michelle. They later divorced. He married Shelley Barber on Jan. 6, 1984, and happily became a stepfather to her three children.
Gordon worked at Wurlitzers, Don's Auto Body, and finally Schreiber's Foods for the last 26 years. Besides his family, he took great pride in his immaculate yard and clean cars. He was an avid golfer and spent many days on the course.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley; children, Michelle (Curt Martin), Scott (Kandyce) Barber, Candice Barber and Kathryn (Dustin) Lofthouse; 10 grandchildren; mother, Phyllis; and siblings, Merrill (Tacy) Bird, Carol (Jay) Cowley, Eileen (Steve) Jensen, Joan (Jim) Bradley and Connie (Bob) Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his father, James; sisters, Deanne Rawlings and Sharon Bird; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grant and Connie Sorensen.
A special thanks to Steve Evans and Diane Crockett (his "nice wife") at Access Home Health Care for their support and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cache Valley Cancer Treatment Clinic.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, in the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.

Shelley and Family,
It has been a long time since I've seen you or Gordon, but have thought of you both often and the good times we had. May it help to know that I could tell you I know how you feel but I don't, so I'll just say that I care cause I do. May God bless and keep you now and always.
