Dalton Parrish Obituary

Dalton Scott Broadbent Parrish
June 30, 1989 - June 26, 2016
Dalton Scott Broadbent Parrish, much-loved, beautiful, firstborn son of Scott and Lynn Parrish, returned to his Heavenly Father on June 25, 2016. He died in a car crash Saturday night at Bear Lake, a place that he loved. Dalton was an incredible son, brother, cousin, uncle and a wonderful friend. He was born June 30, 1989, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Dalton would have celebrated his 27th birthday on June 30. His birth was a long, hard struggle for his mother, and he was much loved upon arrival, especially by his older sister, who had prayed many nights for a baby brother. Dalton was a beautiful baby and full of life. He spent his first two years in St. Louis, then he was off to Europe, where we lived in Waterloo, Belgium, for four years. The family then had a brief stay in Logan, Utah, where Dalton confused his teacher at Adams Elementary. He had labeled all the parts of a face in what the teacher thought were "made-up words." She was surprised to find out it was all in French. Then it was back to St. Louis for a short time before the family headed to Spokane, Washington, where his mother put her foot down and said these "kids need some roots." We stayed in Spokane for the next 18 years before moving back home to Logan, Utah, about one year ago.
Dalton was a creator, an instigator and went headlong into whatever he was doing via the gift of what he referred to as "focused aggression." Dalton was an amazing artist, excelling particularly in photography and architecture as well as interior design and landscaping. Dalton graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Washington, served an LDS mission in Gilbert, Arizona, and was finishing his BS degree at BYU-Idaho with plans to continue his education by going to law school. Dalton was passionate about whatever he was doing. He was an active member in the LDS Church. He was an excellent Scout. Dalton was a great elders quorum president in the Young Singles Ward and an incredible missionary. He loved the Gospel, and missionary work was his passion.
Dalton was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Treva Parrish; his uncle Steven Parrish; his cousin Ryan Longhurst; his grandfather Arthur Broadbent, his step-grandfather Lyle Holmgren; and his beautiful mother Lynn Broadbent Parrish. Dalton will be interned next to his mom in the Logan City Cemetery. Back together again. Love You Night or Near.
Dalton's services will be Saturday, July 2, 2016, starting with a Celebration Reception between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., followed by his funeral at noon. All services will be held in the Canyon Ridge (Quailbluff) Ward building, 1380 E. 25 North, Logan, Utah. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.

What the Sam Hill ? Heaven help us! Heaven help YOU! I was googling to find your address to send a belated letter of condolence for Lynn and found this sad, shocking, awful surprise. Words can't say how sorry we are, but we are praying that you and your family will feel the love we and all your other millions of friends are sending and that the Holy Ghost will work overtime to bring some much deserved comfort and peace. Hang on.

Dalton,

There are no words to describe the pain I have felt at your loss. We shared more than an apartment in college. You were a friend in whom I could confide anything, and for that, you will be missed. I'm grateful to have known you, and I hope your birthday today has been your most enjoyed.

An interesting perspective I happened to note was this:

You never spent a birthday without your Mom by your side.

I loved having you as a roommate, a friend and a confidant. Rest in peace.

Dalton, I will always be proud of the courageous determination with which you faced your challenges no matter how tough. I know Heavenly Father has embraced you with great love, in part, because of similar pride for your courage and determination and for the love you have had for Him in all you have undertaken for many years! You ARE one of "the best there is!" Always and forevermore! Uncle Alan

Dalton I love you very much. You always kept it real with me no matter what. Always gave your true opinion to me. You are the only friend I can say this about. I told you the day before you passed that you have the gift of persuasion. Things I would never even think about you were so elaborate and passionate about and would make me change my opinion. I valued your opinion the most out of all because of your genuinity. I loved how you were always the same no matter who you hung out with. You were always Dalton. Strong personality, firm opinions, hilarious. You forgave easily and we're always there for me. You always let me know when you disagreed with something I was doing or decisions I've made. I am going to miss talking to you. I'm going to miss your honesty. I'm going to miss my friend. I could be my total self around you. I love you Dalton.
