James Kees Obituary

James Kees

James Francis Kees, 80, of Alexandria, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria following a sudden illness.

Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at First Baptist Church. Interment followed with full military honors in the Urania Cemetery at Urania, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue Barnum Kees; two daughters, Phyllis Kees Rodriguez and husband, Kern, and Lillie Kees; one son, Dennis Kees; one grandson and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara York and husband, Phil; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Francis Kees and Ruth King Kees; two brothers; and four sisters.

James served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy and was extremely proud of the service he rendered. He was a retired operator for the Monsanto Chemical Corporation in Luling. As of late Mr. Kees was a Greeter at Wal-Mart.

In lieu of flowers, any planned memorials should be made to Vandebilt Terrior Regiment- Vandebilt Catholic High School, Houma or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, Monroe.

I am so deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Kees's death. He will be greatly missed. He always had the funniest jokes to tell. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
