Roland Broom Obituary
Roland Broom, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at the St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church Cemetery and Mausoleum.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Christophe Broom; four daughters, Althea Clarkson, Leverna Broom, Carmen Howse and Janice Nance; three sons, Roland Broom Jr., Terrell and Donna Broom, and Glenn and Erica Broom Sr.; and 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Beulah Broom; three sisters, Irene Randall, Corrine Coleman and Octavia Broom; seven brothers, Willie Jr. Broom, Anthony Broom, Milton Broom, Harry Broom, Freddie Broom, Simon Broom and Junius Broom; and two grandsons Ameico McGinnis and Terrell Broom Jr.
He was Baptist.
Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
