Agnes Marts Obituary
Agnes Woods Marts, 87, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Larose, died Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Larose. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by seven children, Lillian and husband, Rev. Cleophus Jackson of Houma, Marilyn Marts of Larose, Patricia Rodgers and husband, Eddie Thomas of Marrero, Deborah Marts of Larose, Chandra Marts of Larose, Miles and wife, Luwana Marts of Larose, and Clarence Jr. and wife, Bernice Marts of Larose; brother, Harrison and wife, Virginia Woods Jr. of West Miffin, Penn.; and 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Marts Sr.; her parents, Harrison Sr. and Lillian Woods; daughter, Octavia Marts; two brothers, Ferguson Woods and Edward Woods Sr.; and two sisters, Ida Lawson and Emma Tompkins.
She was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

To my beloved husband and son and all of the family members of Agnes Woods Marts (Mrs. C.J. Marts, Sr). Most people have a special place in their hearts for their grandmothers. Grandmother, as she was called by all of us grandkids, was as special as a grandmother could be. Kind, loving, generous, non-judgemental, appreciative--I could go on and on. She was the only person I ever saw that brought someone into her home to feed them a plate of wonderful Thanksgiving food, right at the table, and I have known many good Christian people.
Now I know she is receiving her heavenly reward and is meeting her Master and all of her loved ones that went on before her.
We all love you Grandmother and will miss you very much but we are also happy for you. I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort all and will encourage all to rejoice with her at her eternal heavenly homegoing. Thank You Lord Jesus for her reward.
