Florian "Sonny" Michalak

Florian Jacob "Sonny" Michalak, born in Chappell Hill, Texas on July 21, 1936 to John and Janie Michalak passed away on January 22, 2012. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Mona Michalak and grandson Scott Michalak. Mona and Sonny were residents of Huffman, Texas since 1968 where they were small business owners throughout the 70's and early 80's. Sonny attended Hogg Junior High and Regan High School in Houston. Sonny career began as an assistant manager at Weingarten's Grocery of Houston and advanced in management with Weingarten's and later with Minimax and Fleming Foods. Sonny was also in sales with McCormick prior to owning Sonny's Fried Chicken in Porter and in Huffman as well as Michalak's Food Market in New Caney and Huffman Texas. Sonny went to work for Tilson Homes of Houston in the mid 1980's as a sales representative until his retirement. Sonny is survived by his five children, Allen Michalak, Glenn Michalak, Pam Michalak-Basquez, Cindy Michalak-Camerotto, and Kenneth Michalak and their families. Sonny is preceded in death by his brother John "Junior" Michalak and survived by sisters Angeline, Dorothy, Mary and Virginia and their respective families. Sonny may be remembered as a little league coach, high school booster and community supporter as well as a dad, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 12:00pm followed by memorial and graveside services at 2:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
