To the parents of Joseph Alvarex,
I just read the poem posted last week in the Houston Chronicle. It was so beautiful and sad that I had to comment on it. I think he must have been a fine young with great parents and friends. It is so sad when they go so young. Your poem touched my heart. I have lost 3 nephews way to early - one from the Panama conflict(Army), one from drug overdose and one from the pain of life.
Thank you for sharing your grief with everyone but please know that my prayers are with you and your family. The first year...oh my God, is the hardest.

Joe We have been friends since i can remember! You knew me in my goth stage and made sure to laugh at me every morning to remind me how dorky i looked! You sat threw hours of me talking about my boy problems knowing i was going to do what i wanted anyway! I am so sorry to hear of the sudden and tragic loss of your son, Joseph. While I didn't know him personally, I could tell by his obituary that he was a very special young man and loved by all. I wanted to offer my condolences…I taught Joseph during his senior year at Cypress Springs High School. He was always a gentleman and a joy to have in class. After enlisting into the service and completing his basic training, he returned to just say hi. I am so very proud of him and I’ll miss him terribly.

Josephine was not a friend but a brother that I truly love.
There was not one time Joe had a sad face. He was so good at making me smile and laught. He did so much to help a lot of people. I remember being in English class the first time I saw you, you were so tan because you just came back from cancun.
As soon as we talk every word that came out was so funny.
From that point we were always together. Me you Edson Tapia and Kirk. We went to homecoming millatery ball and prom. You were life of the party we all love you so much. I'm happy I got to spend one last night with you and all the bros.
The movie was scary but all the crazy things you say made us laught.
Juan and Bonita I'm here for ya for anything I'm here. I loved Joe like my brother he was a very amazing person.

I found a CD on Tueasday Oct.19th marked Joe's party and ROTC 2005 I told my daughter, Emerald Shields about it we talked about the cute pictures and memories.
