Just received the sad news. My memories of Robert date back to 1974 when we were assigned to be roommates in college. He was a great roommate and friend, quick to smile and playfully call me as a "pendejo." Robert will remain forever young in my memory. Rest in peace old friend.

Babe it's ok that y you had to let go, it pained to see you like that way. Your Personal Legend will go on. You went out of your way to mentor people like me, at many times undeserving but you believed in me and saw the greatness hidden way below beyond the scars and pain I used to cover it all up, even when no one not even myself could see it. I was a lost, hurt, confused, angry shell of a person when I met you and little by little with your kind words, compassion and infinite love as my best friend and boyfriend, you gave me the confidence I needed to fight the good fight and never give up or back down when righteousness is on your side. Thank you for always protecting me. I promise to do what you have taught me and done for me and mentor those lost human beings with the same patience, love, compassion and careful discipline you've always showed me. This my love will be your personal legend moving forward through me. Although I'll be in pain and hurt for the rest of my life I promise and vow to continue to move forward to be the great woman, mother, classy lady, best friend and successful career woman you always saw in me. If only I could see myself through your eyes maybe this would be a little less painful. Please I beg for you to always Walk beside me my love, protect me and hold me up when I fall because there will be plenty of times I will break down and fall hard. Please sustain me until I've regained the strength to continue the journey on this road we call life and continue to fulfill your Personal Legend which I vow today to make it my own Personal Legend. Our last week together in Thanksgiving was amazing surrounded by all the marvelous nature and your loving family. I will love you forever Robert Cruz
