Jerry and I and our families became good friends when we lived across the street from each other in Anchorage , Alaska , where we spent many happy hours together.
Jerry was a warm , welcoming person to us and he made our time in Alaska particularly happy...whether we were enjoying a cold beer or a glass of wine , cooking , playing cards , talking about one of his favourite people...Winston Churchill...or just relaxing
During a holiday spent in our home in the UK , he played his first game of golf in Scotland , enjoyed ' real ' Scotch , and fulfilled his ambition to visit Stonehenge , then on to " Churchill country "
RIP Jerry...it was a privilege to know you
Sincere condolences to Retha , Jamie and Sarah

It just came to my attention that Jerry Hubbard's service was today. This is indeed very sad news and I am so sorry to have missed it. Sincere condolences to his wife, family & wide circle of friends. He was a fine gent and I enjoyed working with him over the past five or so years. No doubt Energistics and the oil patch will not be the same without him!

I have many fond memories of Jerry in Alaska as well as in Houston. Although I had not seen him for the past few years, I will always remember the great times we had shooting sporting clays and watching the Astros get trounced at home. He was a great guy, a great friend and he will be missed by many. Included is a picture of some of the Alaska gang in happier times. My deepest sympathy to Retha and the family.

We think about how much we'll miss you, and start to feel sorry for ourselves .... but then we think about all the people who never got the chance to meet you, and we start to feel sorry for them.
I'll always remember you fondly and feel fortunate to have had my life enriched by knowing you. You are missed by all who knew you - and you'll be missed even more by those who never got that golden opportunity.
Am pretty sure I know where you went - I can only hope I'm going there too!
Untill we meet again my friend. May you soar with the angels!
Love you Man!

I met Jerry and Retha when Jerry and I worked together on the initial Alaska pipeline construction. A young engineer at the time, it was obvious he would excel in his career. He was exceptionally bright, hard working, organized, and aggressively pursued improvement everywhere. Most importantly, he was a really good person with a wonderful sense of humor, and delightful wit. Though we were in contact, I hadn't seen him since those early challenging years, my loss. But I will never forget his depth of character and love of life. Carpe diem, as Jerry always did.
My great condolences to Retha and all his family.

My condolences and prayers for Jerry's family.
I met Jerry through his family, we had Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinner at his Moms house in Oroville,
California, when he and his wife came out for those
holidays. He always helped cook, and was a lot of
fun to be around, had a great sense of humor and
interacting with him was always interesting.
After dinner he brought out the Cuban cigars.
And they were good, ha ha. Great guy!
Well Jerry, R.I.P. we all will be up there one of these
days, hope you have some cigars when we get there.
You were loved by many and will be missed but
never forgotten.

Jerry was in my category of a "true friend". I have had the privilege of working and socialising with him for many years and there was always happiness and laughter. He was quick to recognise my chocolate addiction and used to delight in taking photos of my excesses but I would be able to reciprocate on account of his love of red wine. I will miss him greatly and pray that he finds eternal rest in God's Kingdom. Our thoughts are with Retha and his wider family at this sad time.

Jerry, it was a privilege to work with you over the last few years. I will miss you. We all will miss you. My heart goes out to his family, especially the new granddaughter that he was not able to hold in his hands.
Your spirit of cooperation and collectiveness enabled the formation of the Standards Leadership Council, and gave rise to many projects that otherwise could not have happened.
Your professionalism, tempered with understanding and integrity, created an environment of trust and mutual respect that enabled our industry to work together in positive ways.
The joy and pride you had in your family, your passion for the things that make life a treasure (good food, good wine, good dialogue)will never be lost.
Your faith in people, and in humanity, will inspire us in years to come. Your example makes a difference, and will continue to make a difference to us all.
You were a great leader, colleague, teacher and friend. I'm sorry to see you go so soon. We are never ready to say good bye.

Personally and professionally, Jerry was the best. The photo posted on this web page certainly captures his essence; my guess is Retha or one of his daughters took it.
Like many of his colleagues and friends around the world, I only saw Jerry a few times a year around industry/Energistics events. He was always so warm and welcoming and present. He could speak well on any subject--from baseball, to politics, to history, to industry. His favorite subject was family and always brought extra sparkle to his eyes. But not only did he always have great stories to tell, he was an exceptional listener, always eager to hear what you'd been up to since your paths last crossed. I am grateful to have known him, and I am proud to be part of the Energistics team he developed.

No kinder man ever existed. Smart, effective, hard-working -- and still kind and open. I wish I'd had the opportunity to know him longer than the year I knew him. My deepest condolences to Retha and the family.

In an industry (oil & gas) consisting of at least a million people around the world, Jerry was among my favorites. He had a keen intellect, an uncommon amount of political savvy, and a great sense of humor. Rare indeed does this combination come together. He was immediately likeable from the first moment we started chatting about ten years ago, and he just got increasingly impressive as time went on. He will be sorely missed.

Jerry was such a nice guy! He did great things for Energistics, setting standards that the whole oil industry could use to make digital energy flow more smoothly from one application to the next. He traveled the world and left a wonderful blog about his restaurant experiences for his fellow travelers. He will be truly missed! I will be wearing a green FOJ sticker on Friday, which will mean "Friend of Jerry."
Love, Jeanne

I am shocked that Jerry has passed away. He was such an inspiration to everyone he met in his life. I used to work for Jerry when I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and he was a great boss! We were even sports competitors as he was a beloved fan of the Texas Rangers. Jerry will be missed and I will pray for his family. Rest in peace Jerry! You are in good hands with the Lord!
