Clara Penn Obituary

Clara Garrett Penn, Services for Clara Garrett Penn, 82, Bellaire, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, January 9 at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Duane Dougherty officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mrs. Penn died Saturday, January 7, 2011, in Bellaire. She was born October 25, 1929, in Cherokee County to the late Verman R. and Lillie Kee Garrett. She was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended Tyler Business College.
She married Harold Penn March 27, 1948, in Jacksonville. They are longtime residents of Bellaire where he served as Mayor for four years.
Mrs. Penn was a member of the Bellaire Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Janice Kay Garrett and a brother, Lonnie Garrett.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Harold Penn, Bellaire; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Penn, Bellaire, Timothy and Angela Penn, South Windsor, Connecticut, and Robert Penn, Alexandria, Louisiana; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and George Fite, Hughes Springs; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Erik and Rebecca Fite, Keres and Katie Fite, Kent and Laura Fite, Farrah Penn, Cianna Penn, Sarah Penn and Jeffery D. Penn; two great-grandchildren, Ava Fite and George Fite, IV; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Erik Fite, Keres Fite, Kent Fite, Jeffery Penn, Barry Burton and Josh Burton.
