Hi Eric. It´s hard to believe it´s been 19 years since you left us to be with the Lord. It´s easy for me to keep up with the time cause Thurman and I are married 19 years. Ok I know you are tired of hearing the same old song ,if you didn´t want to play at my wedding you could have just said No. You didn´t have to leave us. I miss you so much. You have such a gentle soul. Now you have company since your Dad (Pastor Staggers) is with you. Rest in peace. Love you. Thelma Jackson

The legacy of Eric Warren Staggers still endures. He was our dear friend who helped us in too many ways to mention. Who confided in us, on a level that was sacred. He was an angel on Earth, and time in his presence was a precious gift.
A gifted musician, and a true Christian, in every sense of the word. We sorely miss him.

My good Friend Eric. I will always remember the great times we all had being young and foolish, especially when you tried to teach me to drive that car of your. Then everyone separated and went to college. I moved away from Houston for 30 years but always thought we would see one another again at some point. I will truly miss you my good friend.

Eric, missing our rides home together. Your masterful choir directing and your gospel jazz keyboards. You brought me to CPC, when I most needed it, and they gave me the love I could hardly give myself. You saved me! And now you're among the angels, conducting the heavenly choir. Te amo!

Eric, next to my mother and my Uncle Lloyd Allen, Jr., was the most Christ-like person I ever knew. Always willing to listen, lend monies, and help in any way he could, he, along with the CPC choir, help restore me to sobriety and belief in myself...a debt I could never repay. I love him, with all my heart, and miss him every day. He was the consummate musician and human being.

Hello Eric....I thought about you so hard the other day. 9 years have flown by like 9 months. I thought about the hours and hours of laughter and love that we shared. I thought about the influence that you had on your oldest niece, Daria, the joy that you brought to your niece,Joy, the love that you expressed to Jaylon and Jayda, and the gifts of love and laughter that you were known for blessing so many family and friends with. Guess what Eric.... I Love You more today than ever before. Your Sister, Colleen

Life is definitely filled with swift transitions. Doug graduated from Occidental College on Sunday, May 16, 2010. WOW! And, I am really going to become a part of your family, although I have already claimed kinship, for real. My brother Darryl is marrying your cousin Glenda. How about that! We are all excited. I always think of you. Dette and I were thinking about you the other day. It was in reference to songs you taught us. Songs which we will never forget. Eric, you are never far away from my mind. My thoughts always turn to you and the love you had for us. I miss your humor. I was just commenting to my boys the other day about you and how we always had such a good time in your presence. I miss singing with you because you were all about perfection. I love that so much about you. You, Bernadette and I were the only ones who loved "He Shall Fee His Flock". Time really is filled with swift transitions. Douglas is a senior at Occidental College in LA and is 21. Thomas is a sophomore at the University of Houston and is 19. Nicholas is substitute teaching at Poe (the boys elmentary school) and Lanier (their middle school) and is 24. Solome is a sophomore at UCLA and is 19. How old does that make us? Colleen, I feel as if you captured all the things that Eric was to me with your lovely words. You know I am your family and you are my family. Eric, we will never forget you because you were special to everyone you came in contact with. I hope you know how much we love you and miss you! Guess what? Gene Locke is running for Mayor of Houston. Please watch over him and send your heavenly vote his way. :) Thank you for being my friend. I love you! Hey Erice, have you seen Michael Jackson? :)

Yes Thelma, it's hard to beleive that time has brought us to this place six years later. It is amazing how God has knitted those of us altogether whose lives Eric has touched and blessed in so many ways.
I am so very grateful for even when God plucked him from this earth, I could clearly see His hand of mercy. He was quickly plucked....
I miss the fragrance of his spirit:
I miss his silliness
I miss his smile
I miss his praise to God
I miss his hands that played the melodies of our lives
I miss his stories and his jokes
I miss his smart-eleckness
I miss his sharp dress and the great aroma of his various colognes
I miss him calling me and telling me he was cooking something with rice and gravy
I miss his giving spirit
I miss his words of encouragement
I miss his compliments
I miss the sermons that he so carefully prepared and shared
I miss talking to him about what we were gonna get mama for her birthday or for Christmas
I miss him sharing his gifts with the masses
I am so proud and honored to be among the many many people that can say that I truly miss this man that happens to be my brother and I am grateful for the legacy of love that he has left for all of us to remember.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday Eric!! June 29th is just around the corner. You always gave the best gifts. You took your time and picked out something just right for the person. Then, you'd love to see the expression on their faces as they opened up their special gift. You gave us the best of life's gifts also...the ones we live for, LAUGHTER, a LISTENING ear, and LOVE. We just want to say THANK YOU. The memories linger on...
On another note, I just wonder what you would look like with a full head of grey hair. Hmmmm. Or better yet, I'd like to see you with the new "bald" style that daddy and some others now sport and your glasses hanging off of your nose...That would be hilarious!
Well it was "Just my Imagination" running away with me...(LOL)
Finally Eric, you would be so proud of Shunte and Greylan! Your marraige counseling for them is still paying off...They celebrated 3 years this week. You know 3 years is a long time these days..Praise the Lord!
Know that you are Loved and Missed to the max...

To My Dear Son Eric:
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still,
In my heart you have a place
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
But God calls us one by one
The chain WILL link again.
Love Always,

Eric,
Since everyone seems to be writing you at this time, and since it's almost Father's Day, and you were so much like a father/brother figure to most everybody, it's only fitting that I write to you, and thank you again for being you.
David and I have gone through the fire. We had to move back in March, due to a dispute over our year old puppy, Nuendo (named after a music program, smile). We moved in with a friend, in her home in Pasadena! Which proved to be somewhat of a nightmare. We just found an apt...in Pasadena, that is a part of a housing program, that will enable us to save money, in a two yr period...thanks to Marie Allen Dixon's prayers and your intercession (I'm sure!). God is amazing, and always answers prayers for those willing to wait on Him. As Aubrey said in her posting, thinking of you is a great source of peace and fond memories. What example you left for us to follow. My life is so much the better for having known you. Thank you for being my friend. And thanks to the members of CPC for all the love and support they gave to me, when I most needed it. I love you all forever. Aaron

Hey Eric,
I see I mispelled Genae's name in the previous note to you. Sorry Genae. So, your birthday is right around the corner. Tell Al that means him too. Let me see, you will be 49 this year. Oh yeah, so will Bernadette. She will love that I am reminding everyone who reads this note. Just one more year before the big five-o. We will have to celebrate in a big way on that day. Until next time, lots of love and a big hug.
Love,
Aubrey

Hi Eric,
It's me again. Life is truly filled with swift transitions. It is 2006 and the children are growing into adults before our very eyes. My Douglas, Shunte's Tre, Glenda's Janae, Colleen's Joy and Felicia's Jonathan are all graduating seniors this year. Nicholas just finished his junior year at PV, Rance just completed his freshman year at PV and Thomas and Solome will be juniors in high school next year. My oh my what a transition. Just wanted to keep you up to date with the latest family news. I miss you! I do think about you all the time. You are a wonderful friend and I keep you close to my heart. I am grateful for all the fond memories of you. I am therefore able to cherish the times we shared in my mind. Thinking of you always brings about a feeling of peace and happiness. Take care of yourself and save my place in the choir in the soprano section, not the alto section because you know they always talked too much. (smile) I love you!

Hi Eric my Love,
I have been thinking of you so much lately and missing you so much. Hope you have been getting all those kisses I have been sending your way when I throw them at your picture as I walk down the hallway of the church. Just wanted to drop you a few lines to let you know that you are still in my heart. We had a musical the other night and I know that you would have been well pleased. Only one thing was wrong and it was that you were not there physically but in spirit I know that you were. We had a Hallelujah time. Gerrie, Sistah Simeton, and the chior was out of sight. It was just like old times. Tell all my love ones that I say hello and I miss all of them. Give Mama and Daddy a big hug for me and tell them that I am well and doing fine. You keep that sense of humor and keep them laughing up there.
Love you,
Your----

Hi Eric! My son, my heart! Love you! Miss you! My music partner for 30+ years! Think about you everyday! Have dreamed about you at church playing the organ. Miss all the crazy, funny things that you make me laugh about all the time, and I'm still laughing everytime I think about you because I know that's what you would want me to do instead of crying and being sad. Still making Gumbo and banana puddings! LOL And you know who I think about when I am fixing these two favorite dishes of yours. I'm going to close with my arms around you. Oh by the way, I did get that knee surgery that you insisted I go through with the last Sunday you were at church. Love and miss you much.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

For those of us who are left here...
A new year
Brings new tears
New sorrows, joys, and pain,
New laughther, sunshine, and rain
New opportunities to reflect on Eric's impact upon so many of us,
New strength to carry on and to remember that "in God we Trust"
Eternal life there;
No more sorrow, grief, or pain,
A new year here;
With all of it's uncertainties and cares
We will trust that God will not put upon us,
More than we are able to bear,
This year and always...
A Blessed New Year to you All!

Oh, Eric may the Lord soothe your soul with all the love you gave us. I searched for you today to celebrate the 25th anniverary of the kindest deed anyone has bestowed upon me. On a simple request of a mutual friend in 1978, you provided me, someone you had never met, shelter at your home for I was new in Houston.

Hi Eric,
This last big storm that hit Louisiana brought back memories of how we climbed out of the window to escape Tropical Storm Allison's wrath. I'm so happy that although the storms will come and go in all of our lives, you have modeled the necessity for each of us to have our souls "anchored in the Lord".
Thank you for being who you are to all of us. We love you. We miss you deeply, and we can never forget the lessons you've taught us on this side...you will remain in our hearts...

Hi Eric, Its been 2 years since you left us and it's 2 years of marriage for me! Sunday Darryl played for the Children it was youth Sunday and it was sounding so good, I had to open my eyes to see if it was you. Oh, Eric this is so funny, remember my dog Sugar? The dog was in the back yard in a cage and you put the dog in the shade and the next day the dog was gone. I accused you of taking my dog. Well, I dropped Loren off at Shunte's house on Saturday and her neighbor's dog looked just like Sugar. Are you sure you didn't take the dog? I still think about you and miss you alot. I know you are looking down smiling at us. I will love you forever.

Hey Eric,
It's me again. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that you are missed so very much. Your presence as well as your music made us all feel complete. I read Aaron's entry and saw that Monday was the 2nd Anniversary of your departure to Heaven. I know you are being taken care of very well in Heaven. We miss you and don't forget I still want to be in the Soprano section in the choir even though you said I am really an Alto. I love you!

Hi Eric,
How does it feel to be 48? I am sure if you were here you would have a great comeback. Don't worry you are in good company. Al turned 48 with you and Bernadette will turn the same in December. She is going to love me for putting that out there. I think of you often. Your memory is a constant source of joy to me. I miss you so much. Don't think for one moment that you will ever be forgotten. You touched way too many lives for that ever to happen. Thank you for being my friend and my brother. I love you!
