Joseph Farella Obituary

Joseph Farella, 73, of Seabrook, Texas, passed away, Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home succumbing to a battle against melanoma.
Joe was born November 7, 1939 in North Brunswick, New Jersey to Gabriel and Angelina (Valenzano) Farella. He graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1958 & served in the 82nd Airborne, US Army from 1963-1965. On October 3, 1968 he married the former Kim Derkacz. Joe was an entrepreneur & general contractor. He moved to Seabrook in 2006 from NJ & enjoyed leaving his mark in the community, as an active volunteer for the Rotary Club of Seabrook and the Seabrook Association, served on many boards for the City of Seabrook, most recently as a member of the Economic Development Corporation. He was the contractor of the Bay Area Veterans Memorial in Seabrook. He spent his time enjoying his family and friends, especially as a groupie for The PeeWee Bowan Band.
Joe is survived by his two daughters, Roxanne Swain & husband Dean of Granbury, Angelina Farella & husband Jon Thompson of Seabrook, & son Gabriel of Seabrook; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Santoro, Rose Caruso, Louise Farella of North Brunswick, NJ & brother Michael & wife Sandra of Brick, NJ & extended family. He also is survived by his best friends Gwen Burwell and David Aker & wife Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelina & Gabriel, brothers Angelo, Ralph, & Louis, son John Bernath in 2008 & his wife Kim Farella (Derkacz) in 2007.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, October 29 at Carother Gardens, Pine Gully Road, Seabrook, TX, Senior Pastor Tony McCollum of Seabrook United Methodist Church will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Seabrook Veterans Memorial Fund, PO Box 96, Seabrook, Tx 77586
