My sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the entire Baker family.

My first dealing with Lovett Baker occurred in the late 80s when I was a newly licensed attorney working for a downtown Houston law firm. Lovett was hired as a banking expert for our client and I had the pleasure of working with him on this case. Needless to say, Lovett's knowlege of the banking industry was unsurpassed by any other expert in the case. Although Lovett taught me (and the opposing attorney) many valuable lessons about banking, he was always the consummate professional in his handling of his expert responsibilities. Lovett made me both a better lawyer and person and I will always remember his kind and gentle demeanor (even during cross-examination). I know our client was glad Lovett was working on our behalf and his testimony was crucial to resolving this matter.

May his memory be a blessing to your entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Lovett Baker was one of a kind ... always a gentleman, generous, intelligent, kind, ethical, honorable and had a devilish sense of humor. He has touched so many lives -- and altered all of them in some way.

Joanne, Melissa, Chip, and Caroline, you will be in my prayers. But please remember that Lovett Baker continues to live -- in the minds and hearts of so many people who loved and respected him.

Wow....what can be said of a man who practically molds individuals? I will never forget my very first job, right out of high school, Union Bank of Houston. While some may have feared his overpowering presence, I never did. He was more human than anyone could ever imagine. It saddened me deeply to learn of his passing. Mrs. Baker and family, my prayers are with you all tonight, please just know that your beloved husband, father, friend and mentor is surrounded by loving angels taking him home to his peace he loved with you all here on earth.

Lovett was a classmate and I remember him well. We were both members of the class of '48 at Exeter and although I saw him only at our class reunions, we resumed our friendship each time.I was shocked when I heard of his death and Andree and I send our condolences to all of his family. Our reunions will not be as much fun anymore.

I'm saddened to learn Mr. Baker has passed away. I took a banking course under him in the 1960's and never forgot him. He made the class interesting and the future of a career in banking sound exciting which it was. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Lovett made my daughter's debut with Allegro an entirely lovely experience.
Kenneth and I always found Lovett to be the most charming man in the room at all social events.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Baker and family. The world has lost a GREAT teacher. Those of us who were lucky enough to have been in his employ will be forever grateful.
In our home one often hears this quote "as Mr. Baker would say"
That refrain is probably repeated throughout Houston. His memory does live on...........................
