MARY CARPENTER Obituary

MARY FRANCES CARPENTER, was granted her angel wings on November 18th 2009. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends she had touched throughout her life. Mary was born May 14, 1950, in Houston, Texas to Frank and Frances Zientek. She met her husband of 41 years, John Carpenter at the Garden Oaks Theater on N. Shepherd when she was 14 years old. After they met, she looked forward to special trips to a local convenience store where they would share a soda and discuss their future together. She married the man of her dreams on February 10, 1968. Shortly after having two children, she moved to three acres of land in Northeast Houston where she was close to her parents and sister. She had a tremendous love for animals of all kinds. Through the years, she had two horses, several dogs, cats, birds, fish and a turkey. She touched so many people in her 59 years. Everyone who had an opportunity to cross her path was amazed by her love for people and her contagious personality. Everyone loved to be around Mary. She is survived by her husband, John Carpenter; mother, Frances Zientek; brother, Julian Zientek; sisters: Margaret LeJeune and Nancy Just; children: Paul and John and their spouses; grandchildren: Joshua, Cecilia and Caleb. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Zientek. Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Friday, November 20th at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 21st at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 10500 Nold St., Houston, TX 77016. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.

Carpenter Family,

We are sorry to hear about Mary. We know you will miss her dearly but her earthly pain is no more. She is rejoicing in His presence now. May God grant you comfort and peace during this time.

I tried to leave a message earlier...but it has not been posted. (I don't know how long it takes but just in case it is not going through I am trying again) I just wanted to say I love you Aunt Mary...and I always will. I will miss you forever...as long as I live I will never forget you. I will never forget the love you had for my cousins and I. You were (are) our best friend, (Katy, Dana, Jami, and I), our best times were spent with you. I loved coming to Houston for the summer so I could spend time with you. You are awesome. I cannot wait until I see you in heaven. I love you aunt Mary. Karen

I love you Aunt Mary and I always will. I will miss you forever. You were so strong. I will remember and think of you until the day I die. You will be one of the first persons I ask for when I make it up there with you and Jesus. All of my happiest memories of Houston have you in them. I will love you always. Karen

Please hold dear all of the memories that all of you had with Mary, because they are the only true posession that we have. We will never forget that enoromous and contagious smile, and that electric personality. We share in your sorrow and pain, and our hearts and prayers will always be with you.

Mary is My "Oldest & Dearest" Friend from back in the day of Hamilton Junior in the Heights Houston Texas.
Dying our Hair & wearing Pan Cake Makeup, Oh Boy. We have so much fun over the years adding other friends along the way that have now gone before Mary, Our Trail Riding Days. I admired her " No Defeat" Attitude in EVERYTHING that she took on. I lost touch with her when My Mom had 2 Heart attacks & 3 Strokes & I had to move them to Smithville to keep her out of a Nursing Home. She passed away in August of 08 & Now I am taking care of my 87 yr old Dad & will not be able to attend the Funeral but will certainly be there in Spirit that is for sure. Happy Trails Mary, until we meet again, on the other side. Your Sister in Christ, Peggy Graham

Mary Frances - What a bright light! I can remember when Margaret and I would go out riding, you always wanted to go too. Even at 11 or 12 years old you were so eager to take in life to the fullest. I too have lost those dear to me and pray that God bless your family, your mom, sisters and brother.
Love,
