Joseph Carroll Bond, Jr.
1939-2016
Joseph Carroll Bond, Jr., of Trinity, Texas, passed away January 2, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 19, 1939 to Joseph Carroll Bond Sr. and Elsie Mayer Bond.
Joe is predeceased by his parents; a son, Peter Michael Bond; and a grandson, Cooper Michael Bond. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vera Jensen Bond; son, Joseph C. Bond III and wife Stacey; five grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nora Goodwin and husband Arthur.
Joe graduated from The Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland. He received a B.A. in Economics and Finance from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine and an MBA in Business Administration and Accounting from Rutgers University. He was a CPA in the state of New Jersey. Joe began his career at Price Waterhouse in New York City. He subsequently became a Senior Auditor for Johnson & Johnson and then Manager of Accounting for Raymond International. After a move to Houston, Joe joined Stewart & Stevenson where he worked for 24 years, becoming their International Controller.
Joe was a former member of the National Association of Accountants, the American Institute of CPA's, the Jaycees, Toastmasters, Hey Lollies Square Dance Club, Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Houston and 1st United Methodist Church of Trinity. He also served as a Scout leader in New Jersey and in Houston.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Trinity on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm. For those desiring, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
