Blase Licce Obituary

Blase Peter Licce, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2011.
Blase was born in Houston, Texas, to the late Peter and Katherine Licce. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his children: Blase Licce, Jr.; Chris Licce; Kathie Back and her husband, Ron; daughter, Amanda Licce; grandchildren, Railey and Ethan Back; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three siblings: brother, Peter Licce; sister, Kathy Taylor and sister, Mary Ellen Hayden and her husband, Stuart.
Blase was a successful business owner and entrepreneur. After graduating from St. Pius X High School, he pursued multiple business ventures, including liquor sales and distribution, eventually owning his own liquor store. Blase later became a real estate broker, retiring in 2008. He was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Houston. Blase enjoyed golf and traveling, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren. The ultimate Dad did everything to help his family and to everyone he could and he will be dearly missed.

Although more then fifty years have passed since Blase and I were high school classmates, I still have fond memories of his easy smile and genuine spirit. My deepest sympathies to his loved ones.

Blase and I were classmates at St.Pius. About 2yrs. ago I was in the process of planning the 50th reunion of our class. Blase offered to help in any capacity. True to his word no job was ever too big or too small. It was a joy to work with him.
Just one month ago my husband and I were able to visit with him at a small luncheon attended by our class members. Once again, I thanked him for all the work he done for our 50th. His parting words were,"It was fun . I'm here and ready to help if anything else comes up."
Again, thank you, Blase.

Blase and I were friends in High School, and as too many people do, we went down separate roads thru life and pretty much lost touch for way too many years. Well, about five years ago I had the privilege of reconnecting with him. We talked a lot and shared a lot about all things in life, mostly family and experiences and even dreams. The two of us, and sometimes three including my wife would attend games, Texans and Astros and have a great time together. In addition we played golf, and laughed at our shortcomings in that sport. He was an inspiring friend. In all of the conversations we had Blase never had one bad word to say about anyone, he only saw the good in everyone.
Good bye my friend. Thanks for the lessons and thanks for the memories.

Blase and I worked for several years together at Allied. In those years and since, we spoke often, in fact we spoke on 11/28/11 for 26 minutes the day before his passing. Most of the things we discussed would be considered very important and perhaps deep - from religion, to philosophy to children, being fathers, work, play, travel, education, faith, the love of beautiful women and the challenges that life brings us all. In the many conversations, and sometimes confessions we held, Blase remained hopeful snf optimistic, he loved life. He tasted all of the flavors of life and clearly, especially in his later years when I knew him, he became a much wiser and generous man. I have known very few true friends in my life such as Blase, truth is now that he has passed I realize he was more like a father to me than just a friend. The flesh, he no longer needs it, melt away. Go with God, all the days or your life. My deepest condolences to his family. -Christopher Lopez-
