Sandy Rushing Obituary

Sandy Simmons
Rushing, Jr., 83, died on November 25, 2012. He was born on November 10, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child of Sandy Sr. and Gerdie Rushing. Sandy is survived by Jane, his wife of 57 years, four grown children, and their families. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas, in 1975. An informal gathering in Sandy's honor will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 30, 2012, at Sonny's Place at 1206 19th Street in Galveston. Visitation at 9:30 am and Funeral Service at 10:00 am will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home at 2128 Broadway in Galveston. (www.jlevyfuneralhome.com). A reception in Galveston will follow. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. An informal gathering in Houston will follow at the home of Mike and Liz Kierum. The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided by the UTMB hospital staff.

Jane, we were so sad to learn of Sandy passing. You both were such good neighbor on Burlinghall in Houston. He was a wonderful person and I enjoyed working for him when he needed a secretary on a short time basis. Our prayers are with the family.
