Mary, So sorry to hear of John passing. I always enjoyed his visits to get his eyes checked in Traverse City. After meeting John the first time it was easy to understand how my brother Ken considered John a friend, colleague and mentor. He will be missed. Head and neck pathology has lost some good men. Dr. Batsakis was the most excellent mentor and the most wonderful teacher a young pathologist could have ever known. I will never forget that when I would come in early in the morning to participate in the head and neck conferences at MD Anderson, there was always a cup of coffee waiting there in my office, courtesy of the Chief. His gracious demeanor and quiet demand inspired me greatly. Please send me a notification of his memorial service. I will make every effort to attend. My prayers are with his family.

I remember Dr. Batsakis and his family from the my earlier years in Ann Arbor playing in our backyards. What fond memories I have. My thoughts are with you all.

Dr Batsakis was my boss when I worked in the Clinical Chemistry Lab at UM in the 60s. He was the best boss I ever had and a dear, wonderful man. I am very thankful to have known him.

Dear Mary and family, So saddened to hear of the passing of John. Enjoyed the times we have spent together. Sam just loved and admired John so much. What a wonderful tribute to John and all his accomplishments. We were all so proud of him and the many colleagues who admired him as well. He will be missed by all. May he rest in comfort now and may his memory be eternal. Elaine Apostle
