Marshall Beasley Obituary

Marshall A. (Marty) Beasley , died peacefully with his family at his side on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Marty was born September 26, 1922 in Houston, Texas to Harvey A. and Lena C. Beasley. He was married on June 28, 1947 to Leatrice M. Beasley to whom he was lovingly married for 62 years until her death in 2009.
Marty graduated from Reagan High School in 1940. In 1942, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp, serving his country proudly in the South Pacific throughout WWII. Most notably, Marty was honored with the Presidential Unit Citation for his service with the 4th Marine Division in the February 19, 1945 invasion of Iwo Jima, as well as his service in other Pacific campaigns. In 1946, he entered The University of Texas, earning Bachelor and Master degrees in Business Administration, completing his studies in 1950.
For the next 25 years, Marty held numerous sales and marketing positions in the food industry. In 1977, he founded All State Roofing Company. And, for the next 30 years, he worked passionately on behalf of his real estate and homeowner clients, who greatly respected his professional business acumen and industry expertise. Throughout his adult life, Marty actively served in a number of community roles including President of the Gulf Association of the AAU, Director of the Dad's Club YMCA, and in numerous competitive swimming leadership positions.
Marty was always a proud Father and Grandfather of his children and grandchildren. He loved celebrating their achievements, and worked hard to support their endeavors. Like many of his generation, Marty was a proud American. He exemplified a strong work ethic, he loved his family, and he lived the American dream. His family will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his three children: his son Stephen C. Beasley and his wife Nancy M. Beasley; his daughter Marsha Murray Yarish, and her husband Dr. R. Scott Yarish; and his son Mark R. Beasley and his fiancé Kay Hearne; four grandchildren: Kyle Shelton, Kimberly Shelton, Brad Beasley, and Kate Beasley Brock and her husband Michael Brock; and one great-grandchild: Van Shelton.
Marty's family wants to acknowledge the loving care and skillful assistance provided to him by Arachely Gazca and Cecilia Herrera during the past 3 years. They honored him in the final phase of his life, and have both been a wonderful extension of our family.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening, April 8, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 (713) 497-2210.
A graveside burial service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests, with gratitude, that contributions in Marty's memory be directed to The Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, Texas 77423, (281) 375-2100.

I'm so sorry to hear about Marty. He/Lea were our neighbors on Pinerock; I have not seen him in a long time but missed chatting with him. My prayers go out to the entire family.

Our sincere condolences to the family. We got to know Marty when he worked on our house in 2005, he brought his ladder and climbed on the roof like a twenty-something. We talked about his service in WWII. Our family feels honored to have known him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Beasley family.
I have fond memories of your Dad. While growing up overseas, our trips to Houston to visit family would always include a visit to the Beasleys. Marty was my Dad's best friend and he along with your Mom were always so loving and welcoming. I loved hearing the three of them reminisce about their fun times together.
We send you our condolences and all our love,
Teresa Schellenger (Wally Bowles' daughter) and family

As a "little kid" age-grouper, I thought Mr. Beasley's rank was Marshall. I didn't realize it was his name, until later. Yes, I have his starting pistol, here in my desk @ Lamar. I would love to pass it on to you, just come on by.
