David Adame Obituary

DAVID ADAME, lifelong Houston resident, died on the 5th of August 2013. He was born on the 11th of April 1918, in Houston. Mr. Adame served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of L.U.L.A.C. Council No. 60 for over 60 years serving in both local and national positions. He served as a volunteer with Felix Tijerina, in the formation of the "School of 400", which later became known as Head Start. He also served in the SER-Jobs for Progress program and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Adame and John J. Herrera were instrumental in inviting President and Mrs. Kennedy to attend a L.U.L.A.C. function on the 21st of November 1963, at the Rice Hotel. David was ordained a Deacon with The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in 1975 and served at Annunciation Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Hospital for 28 years. David, although small stature, was a giant in honor and integrity, always smiling, and always counting himself very blessed. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. God gave us this very special person who was love personified. He brought joy and comfort to all that came into his life.
Mr. Adame is survived by his wife of 60 years, Deamantina; son, David and wife Marilynn; son, Anthony and wife Maria; daughter, Andrea Davidson and husband James; and daughter Nita Elsenbrock and husband Don; grandchildren, Brandon Adame, Jacqueline Terrel and husband Gabriel, Adriana, Michael, Alexander and Nicolas Adame, Al and Jessica Gonzales, Christine Griffin and husband Kyle, Alyssa and Randolph Davidson, George and Thomas Elsenbrock; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Isaiah Terrel.
Special thanks to Kathy Tellepsen, Carlene Warren and Robin Bruce and countless volunteers at Interfaith Care Partners Alzheimer's gatherings. Many thanks to all the employees at Com For Care.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from half-past four o'clock this afternoon until half-past six o'clock this evening, Thursday, the 8th of August, at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Avenue in Houston, with recitation of the Holy Rosary commencing at half-past six o'clock this evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 9th of August, at Annunciation Catholic Church with the Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza Archbishop Emeritus celebrating, Reverend Monsignor James L. Golasinski and Reverend Paul Felix concelebrating.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Adame, be directed to Interfaith Care Partners, 701 North Post Oaks Road, Suite 330, Houston, TX, 77024.

Dear Anthony & David,

I just got back from a trip and was saddened to hear of your father's passing. I have not forgotten the wonderful times we had at your house during high school with JA and our fraternity days, and how gracious and loving your parents were to me. I'm glad to have been at your father's initiation into Lambda Chi, he was everything a brother should be.

I regret missing the visitation and funeral, I would have loved to see everyone again. It's been too many years since I've seen your mother, Andrea and Nita.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I look forward to seeing you both sometime soon.

Your brother and friend,

Tina and Family,
I had the pleasure of knowing David from Com For Care. It was always a pleasure to enter the building and see David's smiling face and receive his sincere greeting. Although I did not know David as a younger person, I realize, after reading his obituary, that his personality never wained. There is no doubt David will be as much an asset in heaven as he was here on earth. Please accept my father, Phillip's and my deepest condolences for your loss.

David and Anthony,

I just heard from Sorrell about the passing of your dad.

Memories come flooding back of my early days at UH, and being welcomed into the Fraternity and into your parents' home, and all the good times . . . including the time your dad traveled with us to Dallas for the Cotton (Ice) Bowl on New Year's Day.

We always knew that your dad was an honorable man of high character and someone that young college kids needed to emulate as we grew into adulthood.

Those are all such fond memories for me.

My prayers are with you and your families,

My dear sisters and brothers,
The loss of a dearly departed soul (dad) is a great loss to all of us, especially to mom
We need to now appreciate that God gave us this very special person in our lives who was
love personified and loved each one of us equally. He brought joy and comfort to all that came into his
life. A dedicated father, husband, friend, well wisher who would never harm a soul or never speak ill of anyone
has always been a living example of love, right conduct, truth, peace and non violence, he had in him all these human values
and led us by example.
Let us all now pledge to live in the values he so lovingly taught us. Please accept our heartfelt condolence, please take
care of mom and we will try and make it Houston to see all of your soon.
When mom is up to talking to us pls call as we need to speak to her.
Love always/Nisha and Nari (Nicky) from Hong Kong

Tina, Little David, Anthony, Andrea and Anita, your husband and father was an amazing man, such a role model, as a husband and a father. I remember our family growing up with your family and the best memories living across the street from all of you on Glenhaven. The friendship my parents and your parents had for so many years even before we kids were born was unforgettable. I know that Elsa, Anthony and myself will never forget how much he made an impression on our lives. The friendship my mother has had with him and Tina until his death, was beautiful.

No one can ever take the place of this individual in the world. Such a giving, Godly man, so faithful and always smiling. We loved him so.

We did not know Mr. Adame well, though we are blessed to have some of his family as our good friends. On the occasions that we were lucky enough to be in Mr. Adame's presence, his smile and hugs were the physical means of receiving his love. He was always interested in the other person and often had a little joke to share. Another Saint to share in the Lord's Presence in Heaven. May God rest his soul. Barbara & Johnny Alban
