I lived a few doors from Richard and Patti on Lindmont Circle and we were all good friends. I admired his beautiful Mother. She and my Mother were friends. Long live the good memories of good looking Richard. He was always so kind to everyone. What a legacy he leaves behind.

As a child/teenager, I lived 2 doors away from Richard and Patti and we were all friends on Lindmont Circle. Patti and the rest of Richard's family, I saw this posted by Judy Glatzer this morning on Facebook. I am very saddened and sorry for your loss. I will never forget Richard. Patti, I would love to reconnect. To all of you, please take care of yourselves during this difficult time.

My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to Richard's family. He was one of the finest gentlemen I ever had the pleasure to work with. He always wore that infectious smile and only had good things to say about anyone. He will be missed. The world could use many more in his mold.

My husband and I would hear from Rick now and then even when we didn't live in the same state. The call would go something like this " this is a collect obscene phone call.' We knew immediately who was calling. Rick will be missed by all as one of the most upbeat, sweet, and kind people we know. Our condolences go to his family. Jay and Dan Wasner Houston, Texas

I am so sorry for both of Richard's familys, both the Scheuer family and the IAH family. Richard was probably the happiest person that I have known in the agency regardless of the circumstances. His is a great loss.

I met RJ when I returned to Houston in 1991. I can honestly say I never saw Richard with anything but a smile on his face and a really bad joke to tell. He brought joy to all of us and we will miss him greatly.

One of my most fond memory of RG was one day I was relieving him on position when a COA flight checked in on the frequency. RG gave him some instructions and the pilot asked him if he ever worked in Memphis? RG responded with a chuckle and said "about 20 years ago" ! The pilot replied back that he was a student pilot then and when he heard his voice on the frequency back then that RG was always friendly and helpful and gave him confidence while he was learning to fly. When I overheard that conversation I thought to myself" what a legend" and one more reason why he was called "The Happy Controller"

Richard could always get a smile out of anyone. The positive impact he had on everyone he met in over 35 years of public service can never be measured but will be greatly missed.

May the God of all comfort provide the bereaved family of Mr. Scheuer, with whatever is needed so you can cope with your great loss. Also you can look forward to an end to all sicknesses, pain and suffering that sometimes ends in death.

His voice generated a smile on this pilot over the years. Even a radio couldn't contain his warm and appreciated personality. My condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
