David Holman Obituary

David W. Holman, 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Kingwood, Texas on the morning of Monday, April 7, 2014, after a valiant fight with cancer. David was born on July 14, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles Richardson and Priscilla Denison Holman. He was a United States Army Veteran. David graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1971 with a B.A. in Philosophy. He served with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and was named Parole Agent of the Year in 1974 by the American Legion. After being admitted on academic probation, David graduated first in his class from South Texas College of Law in 1985. For many years, David's name has been included on the list of the best appellate lawyers in Houston, and often in the state. He thoroughly enjoyed being a "law lawyer."
David is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Bonnie Ellis Holman; his two children, Karl Joseph Holman and Chelsea Elizabeth Holman; his granddaughter, Charlotte Ember Holman; his step-daughters, Julie Magliocchetti and Nicole Frebowitz, and their husbands and children; his twin brother, Donald Holman; his father and step-mother, Charles and Lucy Holman; and many other loving family members.
David enjoyed travelling and cheering on his beloved Houston Texans, but reading and writing were his greatest passions. He compiled a complete collection of the Pulitzer Prize winning novels. Shortly before his death, David accomplished a life-long dream of having his novel, No Greater King, published.
David loved life and was always eager to learn and have new experiences. He constantly had a warm smile on his face and he had an infectious laugh. David was loved and adored by his family and friends. He will be forever missed.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Garrett-Townes Auditorium at South Texas College of Law. At his family's request, donations in David's name may be made to South Texas College of Law (http://my.stcl.edu) or The Men's Center (http://themenscenter.org/donate_honor.html).

I was a fraternity brother of David's at Ohio Wesleyan. He was fondly remembered by his friends at our 45th reunion last month. Even back then, his sense of humor was infectious. We hold David and his family in our prayers.
