I have known Alexis for many, many years.
The first time I met Jon, and the two of them were together, I could only think, “How right! How absolutely perfect.” Their witty back and forth, always deftly delivered, was like a great tennis game, matched stroke by stroke, strong backhand to a forehand smash. Both master storytellers, they made any conversation into an event to be savored and remembered.

Jon. Alexis, Cheryl and I shared many parties and dinners together, and of course, the always present wine. There was a very forgettable tap dancing act at the Grand Opera House that JON and I both hated. We were in separate seats so I was able to sneak out early, retiring to a local bar. I incurred the wrath of Jon later when he learned that I didn't try to extract him from this tortuous performance.
Then there was the jet ski incident which happened at our home in Galv. Friends had gathered and we all took out the jet ski and boat for a little canal cruising. Jon was captain of the jet ski (dressed in casual skirt and shorts, not swimming attire) and attempted to have Charles Hodges (6'-6", 230#) board the jet ski from our boat in mid-canal. Let's just say the boarding didn't go well. Jet ski capsized, dumbing both guys. Everyone thought it was hilarious except Charles and Jon, especially Jon. He immediately went home, showered, did his hair, and returned in his normal impeccable state, upset but not enough to miss a party.
Enough, plenty more stories like these.
We loved our time together, and will miss him.

Observation and appreciation, for the relationship of this man and his son, Chris. It will be a rare occasion that I will be able to mount my bike and not reflect on the father/son bond of "Papa Trev" and "CT " as I witnessed on the Tour du Rouge. The young spry Chris out front pulling the pack along for 80-90 miles of the third day into Abbeville with Papa Trev never sitting further back than 3rd or 4th wheel and my "father vibe" picking up on his thoughts of, that's my boy up there, and their comraderie of having a beer together at the end of each day's ride...a vision that I pray will sustain me until my days on this side are done. Rest easy Papa, your work here is done now take your rest by the rising sun...until we ride together again. Job 5: 8-27
