Dear Kent and Linda, how could I ever forget your flight over to England as Chair of the interiors SubCommittee and Kent saying, as he overlooked the inlaid timber interior of my Judge School of Business Management in Cambridge University: "Well, John, if we don't like it, we'll just paint it out!". Kent, you and your committee (especially Lee Jamail) gave Rice the chance to to knock 8000-year-old Cambridge into the second league with the Steve and Sue Shaper ceiling - and me the chance to write my 1000-page 3,000-illustration three-volume theory of Architecture with a basis in solid, "I built it so there!" proof. I can never express my admiration for your splendid 'chutzpah'. My one regret is that I never took-up Linda's kind invitation to come to your ranch of the "little horses". I was worn-out by the time-changes perhaps. But it is a regret! My Condolences to your Family and
Farewell,

Dear Linda, Whitney, Huntley, and Clarke,
The North family was deeply saddened to receive this news. We are scattered now. Angie and her family are in Austin, Becca is in Austin, Catherine and her family are in the Bahamas, and Mary and I are in Forth Worth while I serve as interim head of school for this year at Trinity Valley School. So we will miss the service for your husband and father. But you are in our thoughts and in our hearts now. For us all Kent was a model of character, professionalism, commitment to community, love of family, religious faith, and grace. Please accept our deepest condolences. Love to all,
Don North

Dearest Linda and Family,
Linda, thank you for calling and leaving the message about Kent. I so appreciate your thinking of me. I'm so glad all your children and grandchildren live in Houston.
Tom's and my prayers are with you in Jesus's Name.
What a vibrant person Kent was! He had such a ready laugh. I know you will miss him. How wonderful that he could stay at home with such a loyal support group.
I will be in touch with you! May the Lord, the God of all comfort, comfort and encourage all your family's hearts. How wonderful the assurance that you will be reunited with Kent one day.
I love you!

I am very sorry to hear about this loss. I wish the family comfort in their time of grief and may they take solace in the words found in Hosea 13:14 which reads:
"From the power of the Grave* I will redeem them; From death I will recover them. Where are your stings, O Death? Where is your destructiveness, O Grave? Compassion will be concealed from my eyes."

Linda and Family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. You know how much we enjoyed and admired Kent, and the 5 yrs we are at Post Oak Bank together were a very important part of our lives. We am sorry we were unable to see you more or communicate with Kent the past couple of years, but thought of you and Kent often. We will see you Friday.

Dear Linda Clarke and Bob Clarke --
I'm so sorry to learn of Kent's passing. I did not know him well in later years, but have good memories of him. From what I understand, he certainly left the world a much better place, including his signicant contributions to Rice and Houston. He will be missed.
