Barbara Krug Obituary

BARBARA JANET KRUG
1951-2015
Barbara Krug left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20th.
Barb was born February 23, 1951 in Brockton, Massachusetts to loving parents Janet and Ashton Barnes. As a child she and older sisters Priscilla and Karen traveled the United States and its then territory Hawaii as the daughters of their U.S. Coast Guard Captain father. After graduating high school in Massachusetts she attended Mary Washington College where she was President of the Honor Council. It was there that she met USMC Captain Larry Krug and they were married in May, 1973. Together they lived in Virginia, Illinois, California, England and Texas and were blessed with 4 beautiful children and 12 amazing grandchildren.
Barb will be remembered by all those she touched as a warm, generous, and witty soul who gave wholeheartedly to the family and friends she loved dearly. She gracefully wore many hats as wife, mom, grammie, sister, teacher, friend, volunteer, and colleague. With each role Barb gave her everything, making anyone whom she came in contact with feel valued and respected. Barb was a compassionate giver of love and hope to countless students and a bright light of positive energy who made a lasting impact through her dedication to serving others and her community.
Barb was most proud of her family and especially her 12 grandchildren. Grammie, as she was known, loved cooking, swimming, park time, reading stories, going on John Deere gator rides, picnics at Montana's Woodbine rapids, and teaching life lessons. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, storytelling, joke sharing, entertaining, and going out with her girlfriends. Her close friends were a second family to her; she relied on and cherished them. Her laughter, storytelling and compassionate spirit will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Janet and Ashton Barnes. She is survived by Larry, her husband of 42 years; son, Adam and his wife Holly, and grandchildren, Ashton, Tanner, and Hudson; son, Matt and his wife Amanda, and grandchildren, Walker, Anna, and Ethan; son, Travis and his wife Annie, and grandchildren, Finley, Graden, and Adelyn; and daughter, Whitney and her husband Brian, and grandchildren, Trevor, Vivienne, and Elliott. She is also survived by her sisters, Priscilla Johnsen and Karen Smith and their families.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday October 23rd at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, in Sugar Land. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 24th at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, 2011 Austin Pkwy, in Sugar Land, with a reception to follow. A private burial will be held at Houston National Cemetery. Donations may be made in Barb's honor to the American Heart Association for the study of viral cardiomyopathy.

I just learned of Barb's passing through our college alumni magazine. I had the privilege of being one of Barb's roommates at MWC. Though we fell out of touch so long ago, I thought of her often, and all the fun we had. What a light in the world and a special spirit! May she rest in peace. My sincerest sympathy to Larry & the rest of Barb's family. Loretta Ratkus

I was shocked to hear that my friend, Barb, is no longer with us. We were friends and colleagues who worked in the field of education of students with special learning challenges. She was a master at figuring out what a person needed at a particular moment. Then she met that need. Her sense of humor and kindness made her a person that one longed to be with. I'll treasure the years of our association! Unforgettable Barb.

To my dearest Brother, Nephews, Adam, Matt, & Travis and my niece Whitney,

Our deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your wonderful wife and Mother. Barb was the light of light to everyone she ever touched. Witty, funny and very loving. Barb will always be cherished to me not as a Sister-in-law but a true Sister I never had. I will love her forever as all of you will and I hope to see her in heaven someday. Our prayers are with you. We will see you soon.

Love always,
Your Sister & Don

The name Barb Krug makes me smile. As a neighbor in Cypress Glen, I was always happy when Barb was at any of the neighborhood events. I knew it was a party if Barb was there. Her stories and jokes kept everyone entertained for hours. She was so funny! She also subbed in both of my nieces classes at school. They told me what a nice teacher she was. I knew from talking with her that she had a special love for her students. She had such a loving heart. The world was a better place when Barb was around. She will be missed by so many who loved her.
With love, Peggy Poche' and family

Such a lovely and spot on obituary of our dear friend, Barb. Every sentence describes her to a tee. She was/is an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, hostess, and teacher. She had time for everyone in her life - kinda like the EverReady Bunny! (Hope I got that right!) All of us will miss her spark and generosity every day. Like many of her friends, I never knew when Barb was going to "pop up" at my back door but was so very glad when she did. Trust me, she is up in heaven holding court, entertaining, and organizing the social events!!!! Miss you, my dear friend.
