Charles Clack Obituary

Charles Edward Clack, Jr.
1939-2016
Charles Edward Clack Jr. was born on September 4 1939 to the union of Annie Mae Alexander and Charles Edward Clack, Sr., in Gonzales, Texas. He accepted Christ at Friendship West Baptist Church.
Charles attended public school in Gonzales. After finishing the 8th grade and feeling the demands of helping to care for his mother and younger brother, he quit school to work, leaving home early in the morning to work odd jobs throughout the day and returning in the evening with groceries he'd bought with his earnings.
At the age of 17-but claiming to be 18-Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1964, he began a life-long career of dedicated service in law enforcement by joining the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. After beginning as a jailer, he became a Deputy patrolman and was quickly promoted to the position of Investigator, becoming the Sheriff Office's first black investigator. In that role, he worked a temporary assignment as a regional investigator with a Drug Enforcement Agency-led task force. The assignment led to his becoming a full-time DEA agent.
His career included service as an agent for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission; investigator for the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners; acting district director and senior investigator/training officer for the Federal Maritime Commission; and regional investigator for the US Department of Labor.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and leaves to celebrate his life and memory his loving and dedicated wife of 26 years, Virginia Clack; his younger brother (and oldest and closest friend) Stanley Clack (Belia), sisters Angela Clack Cromwell (Duane) and Patricia Lynn Clack; children, sons Cary Clack, Dion Clack, Dexter Gilford and daughters Lora Clack, Gina Southard; step-children Salmineo Alvin Roy, Salvie Adiao, Rosalie Anaya, Olive Roy; twenty grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.
