Richard Stiefvater Obituary

Stiefvater, Richard Luke

Richard Luke Stiefvater, of 8123 Victoria Falls Circle, Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Two Rivers, died March 27, 2015, at Sarasota, Florida.

Richard was born in the town of Liberty, WI, son of the late Stephen R. and Antonette (Garhard) Stiefvater. He graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1944. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and also served in Korea during the Korean War. In June of 2013, Richard was chosen to attend the Honors Flight to Washington D.C. Richard was a member of the Two Rivers Fire Dept for 33 years retiring as Captain. He was a member of the Fraternal Elks Lodge #1380 for 35 years and was a volunteer at the Two Rivers Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Cherie Stiefvater, Sarasota, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Richard Elfering; Cindy and Wally Panosh, all of Two Rivers; two stepdaughters, Wendy and Tom Pittman, Bradenton, Florida; and Lori Sova, Delavan, WI. He is also survived by five grandsons, Adam Panosh and fianceé, Jessi Crowe, Tony Elfering, Kevin (Meighgan) Mayer, Mitchell Sova and Matthew Sova; four granddaughters, Erin (Paul) Ruffolo, Shannon (Jonathon) Mackey, Cassandra Sova, and Courtney Mayer; four great-grandchildren, Cassidy Crowe, Caleb Ruffolo, Aria Panosh, Penelope Mackey; and one sister, Jeanette Stebnitz, St. Nazianz; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Stiefvater, Karen (Jim) LeMahieu, and Marlene (John) Zahn. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Adeline; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret (Clem) Weber, Isabel (Edmund) Lindner, Loretta Stiefvater; eight brothers and five sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Verna) Stiefvater, Herbert (Gwen) Stiefvater, Anton (Aurelia) Stiefvater, Bernard (Ethel) Stiefvater, Louis Stiefvater, Clem Stiefvater; Frank Stiefvater, John (Marian) Stiefvater; two brothers-in-law, Gaylord Stebnitz and Neil Gibeault, and godson, Lee Radke.

According to his wishes, cremation will take place in Sarasota, FL and Richard will be laid to rest at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, at a later date.
