Joyce Royston Obituary

Joyce Newton Royston, 92, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2021. Mrs. Royston was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Edgar Donald Royston, and her parents, Sue and Emmett Newton. She is survived by four stepchildren: Donna Jobe, Denise (Doug) Patterson, Lois (Rip) Patton, Robert (Wendy) Royston; and 16 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins in Memphis: Paula (Joe) Gresham, Pam (Stan) Ballard, and Dave Knight. Joyce was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 19, 1928. Her parents moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1952; and in 1956, Joyce joined them. In 1956, she began her career with Thiokol Corporation and worked there until she retired in 1991. Joyce and Don were active members of First Baptist Church, where they loved traveling and singing with the Hallelujah Choir. The last three years they thoroughly enjoyed the old friendships they rekindled and the new friendships they made while living at Magnolia Trace. A family graveside service will be held in Memphis, Tennessee at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Television Ministry at 600 Governors Drive Huntsville, AL 35801 or Heart to Heart Pet Partners at 1015 A Cleaner Way Huntsville, AL 35805 or your favorite charity.
