Mamie W. "Jackie" Thornton

Aug 14, 1921 -Feb 9, 2016 Mamie "Jackie" W. Thornton, age 94 of Silver Spring, MD, passed away Tuesday, at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, MD. She was born August 14, 1921 at Lacey's Spring, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Preston and Mary Dean Lipscomb. Mrs. Thornton work many years alongside her husband Roy In his construction business as well as working at the Washington Adventist Hospital and later as a volunteer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thornton; son, Michael Thornton; and granddaughter, Shannon Tyson. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Tyson of Tustin, CA and Kathryn Parrish of Huntington Beach, CA, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, AL, where the family will receive friends Sunday, February 14th, 2016 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Huntsville Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL, with Pastor Ramon Rodriquez conducting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
